    Hi

Owned my 04 M3 cab for three years and staring to have key issues.

Tried a quick forum search but didn't find anything.
If there are related threads could someone put a link up as I'm sure this isn't unique.

    Have two keys

The one I've always used will lock and start the car, unlocking is a bit hit and miss. sometime it works, sometimes not.

The second key will open and lock but won't start the car.

I've looked at the youtube vids that say turn the ignition five times and then press the lock button while holing the open button. Tried this on key 2 but doesn't seen to work.

It also seems that in order to change the battery you have to cut the key open.
If I need to do that first, what's the battery ref?

    Thanks

    John

Does the car unlock [/I]every[/I] time if you use the button on the centre-console ? (just to rule out the door actuators ?

AFAIK there's no way to re-pair the immobiliser from inside the car ...if indeed it ever was paired

Your easiest one-stop-shop is to go see / post your keys and EWS module to BMKeys in London. Ben will replace your battery and/or cut you a new key and pair all keys to the EWS module. Then you simply programme your keys to the central locking using the key to position 1, remove, press and hold unlock, tap lock three times, repeat with additional keys method

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

    I'll check the console button.

I like easy options so I'll look into contacting the guy you mentioned

    Thanks
