If it's a genuine csl ecu then it will already have an h-bridge.
However it is worth checking, as you wouldn't be the first person on this board (or even the 2nd) that has bought a csl ecu, that turned out not to be a csl ecu.
Fair play but it came from my friends csl along with his lock set his keys his Airbox cylinder head, engine loom and map rail.
I’ll take it out of the car. How do I tell it’s a csl ecu?
Then it should all be working.
Usually the only things that stop it working, are the actuator the flap giving up, but you have tested that, and being wired backwards (open = closed and closed = open), but if your using the original csl loom, then that shouldn't be possible.
This is where I am unsure.
I have what looks like a wired flap, FPS, map sensor.
The map sensor must be working because it’s running and not alpha n.
Are all the above components on the same loom? Is it a self contained loom that just plugs in at both ends or if lifting from a csl would they have to splice in somewhere at the ecu end to avoid swapping out the chassis loom?
I’m assuming it’s self contained otherwise it would make engine swaps difficult, but then I may have misunderstood and this part of the loom stay in the car and simply unplugs from the relevant sensors, in which case it have been spliced in wrongly.
I don't know the answer to that i'm afraid.
But it should be simple enough to test it, using the wiring info posted below
Doing a continuity test with a multi-meter should be enough to check.
That’s what I was planning. Will give it a go.
I’m thinking that since the map and iat work, it shouldn’t be an issue.
You might be able to test it with DIS, but as i've never played with an m3 that has the csl flap fitted, I can't be sure.
Ecu looks genuine:
Looks to me like flap control wires are missing:
Excuse fingernails - guitar!
Position sensor wires are there, checked continuity and looks to be set up as expected. MAP and IAT definitely working - so issue is lack of routing of wires into 60002 connector - which looks to be a different loom coming from the engine.
I now need to trace the wires from the flap plug - any idea where they go as standard? seem to just disappear under the airbox.
You need to make a custom loom for the flap
It’s just the flap actuator that needs wires connecting correctly.
The plug and wires are there, feels silly adding in another two. Think I’m going to have to chase them.
Just ordered the wires from BMW for the 60002 multiplug - am I right in thinking they come with the pins already connected?
I dont think they do but you just slide them in
Yes they will come with the pin and a short length of wire connected.
Whats everyones map sensor running at? Im having a few issues with my car put in on a computer and did the map test and it showed it was sat at -15 at idle the car can addapt to run with the map sensor between -20 to +20 just woundering if mine is starting to go faulty and some times drops below -20
Thanks for the help, worked a treat!
Glad you got it all sorted
Indeed mate well done
