As ever, your progress spurs me on to continue with my project.

I know Shaun of Gosling Racing (Grid), his cages and level of detail is spot on. He's definitely worth a visit if you're not too far away.

Are you staying with the OE oil cooler fittings?
I'm looking at the DO88 cooler and if available aftermarket lines.

Hi mate i am looking at Caged Laser cages at the moment, there work looks pretty outstanding and they have been spot on to deal with with enquiries etc.

I'll be running OE cooler and lines unless i run into any cooling issues at which point i'll then probably look into an upgrade of some sort.

I recently took the car to SOS Motorsport in Falkfirk along with @Deeg01 to have @polclaude @ PCS Tuning carry out some remote mapping of the car.

During the initial baseline run Paul commented that although the car was running a decent 330.9 base power the fuelling was very lean, so he set to work tweaking the map whilst several Dyno pulls where carried out to check for improvements.

We saw some decent gains indeed and ended up at 358.3 HP for the final figure, something i'm very happy with considering the only engine mods so far are an Eventuri intake, Un-resonated Decats and a Milltek Mid section and backbox.

I also fixed an annoying oil leak which has been bugging me since i bought the car, turned out to the a timing chain guide bolt located on the front left hand side of the engine underneath the thermostat housing, it was so loose i could move it with my finger and turn it just by tapping with a screwdriver!

Been a long and busy summer so far working on my house, but i'm finally getting some spare time again and i'm happy to be back working on the M3 with big plans for the rest of the year, doesn't look like it will be seeing any track time this year so it's giving me the ideal opportunity to tick off the last few boxes with the build, will post more updates soon but here was the result of the first job on the list, i currently have no front or rear screens and no roof, almost as scary as the time i had no floor :D

lol sounds like it has potential, going for a full Custom Cages T45 weld in cage and carbon roof, big job but think it will be a sound investment for the car especially for safety and chassis strength, plus I hated the sunroof.

Yes mate my intention is to start documenting more of what I’m doing with the car, I’d love to do a vlog but hate the sound of my own voice and always get paranoid about people flaming etc so tend to avoid putting myself on camera, which is a shame as if I’d filmed everything start to finish it would have made a great series.

Still waiting on my weld in cage being manufactured by the guys at custom cages, so in the meantime i made a start on my 94 E30 M54B30 weekend cruiser project, i'm aware this is an M3 forum so wont share too much of it, however i'm really looking forward to getting this one moving, small form 90s tourer with a 24v 3.0 pushing out 230/230 in stock form should be an ideal amount of power for weekend drives up to the north of Scotland and beyond.

So far i have removed the old 1.6 M40 lump and auto box, plan is to restore the entire underside over time to a similar standard as the M3 from the front back (the M3 in reverse)

Its a low mileage car (66k) which is structurally solid, does need one or two light bits of restoration here and there and probably a respray in the future, along with those shocking plasti chrome arches removed.

Quick vid of the old lump coming out:

In M3 related news, i also caved in and took the plunge for a GSR CSL box, will be getting this this thing installed and setup over the next few months once the cage, carbon roof and interior paintwork is done, after that the car is pretty much exactly as i want it for the time being, except maybe for a 4.10 diff which i will do once its time for a rebuild of the OEM unit.

Quality is more than adequate for my needs as a track slag car, as long as it makes decent gains and looks the part under the bonnet im happy.

Cage arrived safe and sound today, the thing is just a beast and the quality of the workmanship seems second to none with all the edges being finished perfectly and the tubes all exactly as they should be.

Still some interior prep work to do before i fit it such as thinning the looms out a bit more, cutting and buffing off some redundant brackets and threads etc and removal of the last few amounts of tar deadening.

Good couple of days fitting involved in this by the looks of it, will get some better pictures when it's weld in time, thanks again custom cages.

Love how these look in black on black with the 18" BBS (RE?), like a proper track car! That cage looks fun :D Are you painting it a certain colour that I missed?

The cage will just be going black the same as everything else mate, i've done literally every other part black so may aswell stick with the stealth theme all round lol, i'm actually doing the prep to fit it at the moment there is alot more invloved than you would first think, should hopefully have it fitted up in the next couple of weeks.

Btw the rims are Apex Ec-7 which are basically a copy of the BBS originals.

So this happened earlier this week, i really need to stop joining random Faceboook groups relating to old shitters i owned back in the day

My first car was a Nova identical to this one so as soon as the ad for this one came up i absolutley had to have it, especially with the values starting to get a bit silly on the good ones.

This thing has 48k on it and it's mint, my 8 year old boy absolutley adores it and has started calling it his car already lol.

The plan is to eventually have a rebuilt C20XE on Jenveys running in this, however i wont be touching it until the M3 and E30 are done, will just be a summer show toy until the end of september then it will go into storage for winter.

I've also started fitting the CSL box and now have all of the neccessary parts sitting waiting to bolt on, including the PCS Tuning CSL ECU etc.
Cage weld-in is also underway, footplates, main hoop and front bars have been tacked in to try and gage exactly where everything has to sit, once we get the main sections 100% we will start properly welding in and adding on the rest of the cage components, really excited to see everything done and get a track day in!

Keep us posted on this cage build, personally I’m dreading doing the welding when I get to it ,, looks to be some very tricky access to welds , Roof isn’t something I won’t to remove ,, looking good
