Greetings fellow M3 enthusiasts! This is my first post on here. I'm lucky enough to be in the position to buy an e92 on pistonheads/autotrader etc, however the snag with me is I only passed my driving test back in April this year. Sky insurance require 2 years driving before any quotes are given. Does anyone have any other provider that could insure me? I'm over 25 now so hopefully that will help. Thanks in advance Dan
Welcome to m3cutters @DGirv93! +1 to @mooreyy82 suggestion Good luck with the car search is a very good time to buy!
Definitely comparison sites are the way to go. Was with admiral and a quote through them directly was £1500+ then got a quote from them through gocompare and it was £950 ish, I’m 25 myself, it’s all a massive con of course.
I read something about renewing exactly 21 days before your renewal will get you the cheapest quote from Martin Lewis and always change insurer as renewing with the same insurer is always more expensive
Hi. Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back. Regards, Dan.
ClassicLineInsurance was by far the lowest quote I've had. They are not on comparison websites. Just to give you an idea, I'm 27, live in East London and I pay £1440 a year for a '15 E63s that's lowered, wrapped, aftermarket wheels and remapped, all declared. The M3 before it with a Stage 2 declared was £1320. If the car is older than 5 years for an additonal £24 they will give you agreed valuation as well. Basically, you tell them what it's worth and based on photos showing condition of car, they will either accept the price worth or suggest a different value, higher or lower. Or as above, give Adrian Flux a try. You could also sign up to LLFCard for £2.99/month and use their Up to 15% discount with Adrian Flux.
Consider Bell’s black box policy. I had a RRS 3.0 SDV6 which cost me £890 in year 1 and thought it was a waste of time when they gave me £27 Back after 3 months driving and return of the box. At the end of year they quoted £450 and all the comparison site suggested £800+!!! Switched to my E90 2008 M3 in Dec 2018 and paying £355 this year since May. Of course the caveat is you need to drive like miss daisy during those first 3 months but it pays off in the long run. My estimate is I’ve saved over £1000 over 3 years
Try some of the ones not comparison sites too. Like Direct Line. They only require history for 3 years and not 5 like all the comparison sites if you’ve had accidents etc
Went through the comparison sites this year and Hastings direct quoted me £390 so I went with them. Previous insurers couldn't even get close.
I’m with Hastings who seemed to give me the best quote by far although I’m only 22 - it’s something like £1100. The one thing that I did note as previously mentioned in this thread is that when I set the start date to circa 2 weeks in advance it reduced the premium by £150. What a con!
I always reinsure 3-4 weeks in advance as stated previously. I have a 2006 Mini GP, Clio and E92 Comp Pack all on 1 policy which is just under £900 (I’m 45 no claims etc, driving 28 years)
