As title, going to test drive a 2016 M135i on Saturday 14000 miler, 1 owner (lease) Estoril Blue
    Looks really nice any pointers?
I have read about the birds handling package, does it really need it?

Test drove one yesterday in mineral Grey but front bumper scratched and dents plus miss representation put me right off.

I’ve heard they can be skittish.

Perhaps the Birds Bilstein/Eibach kit would help but the main mod I would do to an M Lite is a Quaife diff.

Yes. Although personally, id just fit normal Bilstein B8's and Eibach springs instead of the ones that Birds make out of Virgin Unicorns bathed in the sperm of Zeus for 3 weeks ... that are three times the price. They also need an LSD. At that point, they are very good. Well, barring the steering which is still fairly awful.

    Thanks for the input guy's.
Will see how it goes, but as I don't do track days or drifting or even high speed driving for that matter not sure I need the mods.
Must admit though the mods sound very interesting..but serious money :bugeye:

I bought one a couple of weeks ago to replace a much loved and slighty fettled 130i.

Does it handle or feel like an M car - No, obviously not.
Is it acceptable - Yes as a daily driver, probably not as a ‘fun’ car
Would it benefit from Eibach/Bilstein - Yes, but that’s in the future.
Birds or B12 Kit - for me probably Birds as it’s a long term keeper so the additional cost/year/miles would be worth it.

I'll be selling mine probs next month. it's a fun car and I would have another in future. with a sports cat and mpe sounds great too.

I thought about changing the suspension but it's incredibly comfortable for a hatchback and I wouldn't really want to lose the comfort.

    How you finding it?
I’m really enjoying mine, definitely a keeper.
Having a daily that’s almost as quick as the 1M feels kinda naughty :)

I really liked the M135i! Having had an E46M3 and an E92M3 its amazing how much of a fun and better all round the little M cars are.

In stock form the M135i is only 3 seconds round the ring slower than a 1M and faster than an E46M3 so its quick enough to start with. Get a low cost remap and you will be 360hp+ and a larger intercooler and downpipe gets you 400+BHP in a car that weighs less than m3 does for much less money and running costs. They are similar to M2 performance then! Its way more practical too. Mine had an LSD which made it a lot more fun as traction issues can be a problem especially in the wet without one. I even liked the ride as M3 suspension on my local roads was awful.

Only got rid of it as I moved into the 140i. The 3L inline 6 turbo engines are amazing.

To be honest I've always slated them a bit and possibly even looked down on them a bit,the usual it's not a proper M car thoughts and just the fact the 1 series is just so common.
Anyway, recently sold the M3 and got an M135i and I'm kicking myself now as I should have done it ages ago, fantastic little car and I totally love it:D
It has all the speed of the M3,probably not the handling, but for my needs as a daily it ticks every box.Im not slating the M3 at all,but I'm glad to be out of it now, high parts prices, looming rust and notchy manual box killed it for me as I nearly always drove it cold.

Getting used to it, exploring the power delivery is fun...

Much prefer the ride quality of the 135 over the M3 suspension which like you say on local roads was harsh, tinkering with the idea of the lsd, but it has enough power for me at the moment..

I spent loads on the M3 and got to a point where it needed a full respray, wheel refurb, wing replacement plus loads more niggly bits and the ever present SMG potential issues but all money, money, money.
In the end I wanted piece of mind motoring, so manual and 3 year warranty swung it for me.

I,d reccomend Bimmercode mate,i,m a nugget when it comes to that kind of thing but its so simple to use even i cracked it.All you need is the Bluetooth dongle £24 and then buy the app £30.99 and away you go,i done the stop/start,idrive splash screen, puddle lights when reversing etc etc etc and it all worked a dream, even backs up your car ecu before it does it so if you want to change back 2 taps and its done:thumbsup:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vgate-iC...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649,i bought this one.

You can use it on as many cars as you want as well,so you can do all your mates:thumbsup:
