    Hi,

Would appreciate some help here. Just had CIC retrofitted and the nav works perfectly, as does everything else. We can't seem to get the USB side to work.

We have a cable going from the CIC unit to a new USB/Aux connector we have in the glovebox except it doesn't recognise anything on the USB when I plug my iPhone in.

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

I know without a Combox I won't get album art but thought I would still be able to access my iPhone music.

    Thanks in advance.

The glovebox USB port is for transferring music to your hard drive or for updating the satnav software only. Unfortunately, it will not recognise your iPhone.

You need the armrest USB port to use your iPhone which I think is the 6FL optional extra. I went down the Dension Gateway 500 route to get my armrest USB port as my car didn't come with it.

Sorry, my typo. I meant armrest not glovebox. It's the USB and Aux In socket combined with a cable that goes to the CIC unit.

    Ah right, not sure then.

I'm sure someone will be along with advice as there's plenty of people on here that run an iPhone and cable setup. It would be easier to just stick all your music onto a USB stick though.

Have you confirmed the USB port actually works with a memory stick? It would rule out a dodgy port or cable then.

is the USB in the armreset plugged in to the back of the CIC? did you have the USB in the armrest originally (6FL)? The USB in the CIC wont play your iphone music its purely for loading music from USB device e.g. pen/hdd etc

USB from the armrest is plugged directly into the CIC and didn't have USB before, only the aux in.

It sounds like you have plugged your armrest USB into your CIC head units satnav / music USB connection.

I don't know how the 6FL armrest USB option plugs into the CIC head unit.

Forgive me, what is the satnav/music USB connection on the CIC? Is that just for firmware updates?

It's used to update the satnav software and transfer MP3s across to your CIC units hard drive. That's all you can do with it as far as I'm aware.

My CIC unit had a large quadralock plug, a blue plug (GPS), a black plug (FM antenna), a burgundy plug (CIC screen) and a beige plug (Glove box USB port).

Is yours the same as mine above or do you have another connection for your 6FL USB port? I'm no expert but I'm struggling to understand where the 6FL USB port plugs into your head unit unless its like my Dension Gateway 500 armrest USB port which just slots into the MOST fibre optic system.

6fl goes to mulf2 in boot or combox not CIC. You need to retrofit 6fl

I have a mulf2 unit here. So if I replace my old Bluetooth module (no idea what it is called) with the mulf2, connect the armrest usb to that then I can connect my iPhone 5 via USB only?

And if I went down the Combox route I would go CIC --> Combox --> USB Armrest?

Thank you very much for all your guidance so far.

Have only just plugged it in; coding is not my strong point at all so was going to find someone to do that.

That's your problem then. It needs coding to tell the Vic what's fitted to your specific car. I can code it for you. Drop me a pm if you want it doing.
