Not too much to get excited about here really, but the standard seats have now been seen, along with the manual gearknob. It’s cool to see a manual but can they not make it look a bit more exotic than the same old leather knob that’s been used for the last 20+ years?!

The standard seats look nice, almost like M5 seats, however the optional carbon seats are way way nicer!

Standard seats look a bit bloated and fat. Fine in the bigger M5 but prefer the current F8X seats tbh. The carbon ones are pure porn tho! Not sure I'll spec them at north of 2k tho!

I think £2K is actually pretty reasonable given what the E9* M performance seats were priced at! They do look bloody stunning too.

    I agree.

    Manual
    Carbon seats
    Ceramics
    Sun protection
    RWD
The most leather you can spec

    Done

Unfortunately it’ll still have those damn OPF filters. So I’ll be having a damn good test drive before I’d ever commit.

Im hoping they will put a lot of effort into the sound stakes Col, in this new car. Its such a major part of the experience, it will be a let down if it doesnt sound right. The carbon seats look fantastic, but i bet they will be a hindrance on the meat and two veg on occasions ?.
I suppose they will use the ZF box and M5 running gear on this new car, so it may be a junior, racier M5 ?

Both seats look great, know what you mean about that boring gear knob, that's why I had to get rid of it from the m2!

Those carbon seats won't be comfy I don't think.

It’ll be the powertrain from the x3m maybe with a slightly different map on the engine and gearbox or not and just drop it in. This new engine is going to be over 1.5 years old once it lands in the M3/4 they’ll have any bugs ironed out, not that it has any!

those carbon seats are sexy af, normal do look like a junior M5 seat, which isn’t a bad thing, actually they look similar to the x3m seats...

Colin why commit to the next generation which will have several reincarnations before everyone agrees they've got it right, by which time you've done another £30K.

Just buy your CS outright. It's a keeper.

Absolutely manual mate! However your absolutely right with not jumping in. I will only ever consider the next gen CS version, and only the M4 at that. I’ve had 3 of this gen and it’s not somehting I want to repeat. So I’ve got several years until we hear of a next gen M4CS.

Or like you say, just keep mine :)

The bit that concerns me is the Carwow review of the current 3 series mentions that the pedals are offset. That would be an absolute no deal from me if it’s going to be the same in the M. Really can’t see BMW changing that detail from the base models.

The optional seats look great, they remind me of the RS4 B7 sports seats but more extreme.

The normal seats look fine imo, the carbons are nice but look extremely uncomfortable for anything other than a track day lol. That said, it's not like I can afford this car with either options so there goes that :D

The review of the 340i was pretty scathing from EVO and seems BMW have given up with trying to create a fun drivers car that sounds nice and have accepted we are all heading towards automatically piloted cars and we will just be a passenger so they are pouring their efforts into tech and gadgets not fundamentals :bh:

The M3 hasn't had a Coupe since the F8x came out. BMW decided to release the Coupe/Vert as the M4 and the saloon as the M3, but yes, there will be a Coupe M car, pretty much the same as this one.

IIRC release is late 2021 or early 2022.

No the badge is selling cars and we see time and time again loads of customers don’t test drive the competition and the petrol head element of buyers is small, so why spend loads on R&D just churn out like a Ford Fiesta , wait they are good.
It’s just a numbers game that may well come back to bite them in the bum imho

Yes I read that too, a shame really, I think I'd rather have an alfa giulia veloce than that 340i
