Has anybody been able to remove the front number plate holder and fix the number plate, although it would be a lot of work to the bumper.

I've been cleaning the car today and replacing the number plates and it isn't an attractive part of the car and I'm sure a better solution could be found.

when I took the holder off, it does leave 3 screw holes in the number plate, but I'm having a front end re-spray at the end of the summer and would like to see if I can make it work

I am considering the same, my bumper is off just now and heading to get painted this week.

Not sure wether to use the number holder or not.

Would like to see some pics of it first.

I've used double sided tape and it's been on for over a year using OEM holder. Have to use a decent amount of tape but it will hold and there's always the option to go plateless

I took the holder off when I fitted my new plates. I used double sided numberplate tape and two of the original number plate screws and went into the bumper. Probably not the correct way of doing it but it looks mint. Will try and upload a pic...

Took mine off. It will leave 3 screws, really not that noticeable when you are standing far. The plate can be hold in place by using double sided tap, had mine like this for over 2 years.

After i got my bumper resprayed I used a piece of aluminum angle to hold the number plate and attached to the underside of the air scoop so there are no holes in the front of the bumper.

Do you have a picture for us all to see?

Mine was like this when I bought it... often thought it would be better in a holder

I think that looks better than with the holder particularly as my holders got a few scratches on it. I think Ill try that.

Yep and pretty easy to do with the bumper off. Just got a length of aluminum angle off eBay and stainless steel bolts with nylon locking nuts from halfords. As the bumper is curved and the aluminum bar is straight I made the aluminium sit just proud of the bumper so when the numberplate is fixed the bottom half rests on the aluminium and the top half rests slightly against the bumper.

Some heavy duty Velcro, they look 100x better without a front plate but I'd rather not waste my time with the Police

I was at Brands Hatch today on a track day and there was a car with the front number plate holder removed and the number plate fixed directly to the bumper, they had also reduced the depth of the number plate to match the depth of the bumper and looked really good. Sorry I should have got a picture

Be warned you can find the bumper in a bad state behind the holder when you do this. So downsizing the plate isn't always the best.

Pic of mine. Please excuse the rough front end, full respray is on the list. Front has taken a hammering over the years. You can clearly see where the holder was and two screw holes. When the bumper is sprayed I'll be going down the bracket route as per the above photos. Its way cleaner.

Oh and this letter size isn't legal....
