2005, I had my nans mk2 golf 1.3 3dr in jade green. Only had about 10k miles on it from new in 1989. Bought a 4 light front grille from the breakers yard, K&n filter, Sony xplod headunit with removable fascia (remember them), made my own stealth shelf from mdf and some speaker fabric from Maplins and xplod 6x9s to match the headunit.
Learnt to drive in it, knackered the clutch a week before my test. Couldn’t get new clutch cover bolts at the time even from vw and had to use the old ones, one of which subsequently came loose and ended up flying around the bell housing and put a hole through it. Ended up breaking it, shame really as it was a solid car.

I was a late bloomer in more ways than one so after passing my test at 21 I had a choice of a Capri 1.6L or MGB Roadster. Went for the Roadster and the die was cast. The second car was the monster. Still 21, 3.5L V8 TR8 Drophead. The insurance was half my wages. I think there were 8 insurance groups at the time and this had to go in group 9 for special vehicles.

I can't tell whether to be insulted about the car or the grannies. But at that age, any car and any woman will do ;)

Now come on, what was the first car for you? You Scottish lothario you... whisking all those highland lassies off their feet, were you, pretending you were from the "city".

1.3 Fiesta Ghia with the leccie windows and boot release K978NKA.

Bought off my great aunt who bought it new from Blakes of Liverpool. Affectionally known by her as Brenda. Poor old Brenda got it everyday once I had it, but I did look after it, came to uni with me and everything

So the fiesta had an extra 0.1l over your Seat, and mine (well, my mum's) was the glorious "Ghia" spec. No contest :shades:

I do remember a Clio cruising down Sauchiehall street on Saturday night, no doubt trying to impress the ladies. Except it had 8... count em... 8 exhaust pipes out the back. Almost the full width of the car. The drunken army were genuinely wandering into the street to point and laugh. I'm not sure that was the owner's desired reaction :D

@stuartk will be there with his new Renault. Just ask him if he likes more holes in the back.

She was a C plate which had the earlier darker interior which was nicer than the common light grey colour one!! White with the black arches, big bore 2 exhaust, k&n, all the standard crap we put on them back then, 4x 6x9s on the rear shelf and a couple of 12" subs!!! Was fully restored before I bought it and only paid £1500 for it!!! Only kept it 6 months then went for a 1990 318iS E30 BMW, 17" Oz Polaris wheels, Scorpion DTM exhaust, she wa awesome!!!!!

EP82 starlet GT turbo ... got lucky as im pretty sure the insurers did not know what it was ... they asked for a copy of the log book and i vividly remeber it said Toyota and on the model section it said 'white' ... and that was it (along with the 1300 engine size)

insured it at 17 for £800 FC

I was the first uk owner as it was a fresh import! whacked on a hybrid CT9 and made just over 180bhp on a pretty standard car other than the mandatory HKS SSQV dumper!

I will add i did bin it .. and then rebuilt it

You've got to bin the first car at some point - one of the rituals of growing up.
Mine was last seen spread over a 70 meter area from the tree that stopped my spin :bugeye: to the large ditch/earth bank thing that brought me to an eventual stop - was definitely the black ice to blame though......
Police turned up to close to the road whilst it was extracted and the wheels and suspension components were collected up as it was about 9.30pm on a really fast road through a forest in Feb.
Didn't realise at the time but pretty sure I had a decent concussion as I went out for a few beers the following night and felt really weird. I'd bent the steering wheel with my head and broken the dashboard with my knees - no airbags went off for some reason :wtf:

Mine was an old S reg Toyota carina bought for £100 in lime green, painted it for another £100 that was so thin it ended up black with green bits when it got stonechips and scrapes, loved it tho, was rear wheel drive and loads of fun, even wired a house speaker in the boot for budget sounds lol, was lowered on spring clamps, proper ghetto mods back then.

Many bangers followed after that one
