    Hi,

My E92 M3 is due a service and I was hoping to get some recommendations for where to get the service done in the West Midlands. Not sure wether to go main dealer or indi (car is 2012 on 35K miles) but I suspect there will be the usual recalls need dealing with so maybe best to stick with main dealer this time?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave.

I have a 2012 on 28k and it's due a service early next year. I'll be taking it to Tariq at AMS in Worcester - he's a fellow cutter, sees a lot of M3/M4s (there were 8 different M cars there when I popped in last week) and always gives a great service/advice. Mine hasn't yet been serviced outside the main dealer network yet but I'd rather get it looked after properly with someone I trust, so once the warranty is up that's where it will be going.

What service is the car due Dave? I recently had my Oil change and Brake Fluid change service done from Rybrook Warwick. I supplied the oil, oil filters, microfilter etc. I ended up saving around £100 from if I had not supplied the oil and spares and got the dealer stamp in the service booklet as well.

Are Rybrook Warwick considered one of the better main dealers?

I'm based just East of Birmingham. Not sure what service is due - it's on 35K miles and 6 years old, I suspect it might be the expensive one lol.

I was thinking about trying Sytner Tamworth as my mate has his 640D serviced there and says they are good - just not sure how much they know about M cars.

I think its pretty hit and miss across the board, and depends which technician gets allocated your car. I have a little bit to go before having to make a decision, but having heard some first hand service horror stories (including the wrong oil being put on 2 occasions in an S65), plus a few personal warranty issues that haven't been dealt with well - I'm leaning towards using a proper indy who actually cares about the cars they work on...

Each to their own though, and really not sure whether a main dealer stamp would count for more if you looked to sell down the line...

I had the big service (plugs..diff oil...brake fluid etc) done at Rybrook Warwick a few weeks ago.

    No issues at all.

Quoted about £850....which was exactly the same as Autotech in Warwick.

As Rybrook offer a discount via this forum I asked if they'd do a discount on servicing. They took £100 off the bill.

My car is saying brake fluid is needed so I'm guessing this is the big one.

There is no 'Big' service on the e9x Dredd - it's built on a system called 'Condition Based Servicing'. Basically, the car will tell you what it needs replacing. If yours is saying that it needs brake fluid doing, then that's all that needs doing.

Dredd - that should be around £80 inclusive of VAT at the dealer. That was the quote I received from Sytner Birmingham, but I think it was around the same at Rybrook Warwick - where I eventually got my service done

Computer is saying brake fluid 08/2018 and oil in 6000 miles or 08/2018, so looks like oil and brake fluid.

    Thanks for your help guys.

Just out of curiosity, how many miles do you cover between oil changes?

I know the CBS will set it at 15k after you do the oil change. IMO change the oil at around 7.5k or 1 year.

Reason I'm asking is, you claim the CBS tells you 6k miles left, so that means you've covered around 9k miles which might be a bit on the long side despite their claims of safe for 15k. I'm sure you'll find most change it at 5 - 7.5k

Car has done aroung 10K miles since last service and oil change so that sounds about right.

10k is enough to warrant new oil and filter.

I'm lucky enough to have a mechanic friend with a ramp, so I do the oil change myself at his garage.

You can save quite a bit doing yourself and it's very easy. You will need an OBD to reset the oil change on the CIC however.

I just did mine Saturday, oil + filter came in at a grand total of £130 since I paid him £30 for using his ramp + OBD.

I bought mine last week from ECP during one of their 35% or 40% off sales. I paid £99.42 for 9L + Filter.
