I'm sort of looking for a MC edition DCT at the minute, and wondered if anyone had any input on price. There's a few for sale at the minute and they seem a bit overpriced/underspecced. The ones I've seen are:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/253054801375

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/322651932095

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/302333877769

Alright the second two are low mileage but no mention of loudspeaker/logic7 or power folding mirrors (mirrors essential for me).

I really have a max budget of £21-22k, am I being overly optimistic in thinking I can get an MC edition for this? I can give or take EDC and needs to be non sunroof, DCT with power fold mirrors.
    Any input appreciated thanks!

I'm sure the registration of the first car is familiar as it was possibly rejected a a forum member for having a distinct smoke smell in the cabin.

Yes, too optimistic. I've never seen one at that price, even tatty, leggy ones fetch more than that.

Decent ones which are tidy, especially in good spec, will cost you £25k+

Such a special colour/interior in my opinion, really does help differentiate it

Yep, a pretty bland colour palette of available paint options on the E92 makes them stand out (along with the individual orders and later special editions). And the rarity holds extra desirability too.

One of the sellers in the OP links spouts that there are 500 - he's confusing the Edition models with the LE500s and talking rubbish.

In the period they were available (mid 2009 - early 2010) there were only circa 250 UK Edition models ordered across the 3 colours they were available in, broken down into around 110 Alpine Editions, same in Monte Carlo, and 34 Dakar Editions.

    Of those three:

    - Top one needs a service soon (March, and it's already done 10k on its current oil), can't see what stereo it has. Could be OK.

    - Middle one is getting leggy and has very shiny leather. Has at least 10 speaker Hifi stereo

    - Bottom one is the one that was traded in from an owner on here. I enquired with that owner (as did Katie) before it was traded but it wasn't up to scratch. Has had the OEM black tip backbox butchered into a straight through with the 4-pipe mod (waaay too loud), has mismatched tyres front and rear, and a fair few stonechips. Needs a couple grand throwing at it to sort all that and get it up to scratch. It does have Logic 7 hifi, low miles and LCI lights though so could be a good car with a little more investment sorting the issues.

Hmm. Thanks for all the input. Definitely food for thought, but I have definitely seen one or two go for less.

One recently, which looked a good price albeit with some below par pics:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-M3-Mo...FSIa1%2BN3H0EV%2FIOvg%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I guess it depends trade/private and how quickly people want to sell their cars. E92 prices seem all over the place in general.
The last one then seems expensive if its then going to need thousands spending on it to bring it up to standard, its still an 09, £28k gets you into a 2012 comp pack Le Mans blue: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-BMW-...789669?hash=item4b1bf81265:g:rZ4AAOSweIlZaFci

All a bit moot given my budget, but always interesting to look!

I had a similar budget last year to buy an M3...

I looked a mainly crap, without exception they all needed a good amount of money spent on them to get them to standard.

If its not of huge importance i wouldnt get hung up on the Monte edition and just buy the best M3 you can.
There was recently a few Monte's for sale on the forum, all very well priced and IIRC non of them sold..
