I went to have a test drive in a CL65 today, was going well, until it through an engine light up and went into limp mode. It was felt obvious to me this was a code that had been turned off just before I turned up. My code reader threw up Crank position sensor. The owner will have it done but, it left a bitter taste, so natually looked at what else was around locally.

I got a tip off of a guy selling an E92 M3 Edition car that has had a bomb spent on it, and a 2011 X5M.

I know they are both different cars, but its hard to choose which, the M3 was mapped and dynoed at 450bhp, and the 5M was standard 555bhp. Both great cars, and both great fun in there own right. I'd have them both if I could afford them ! I've offered on the M3, but cant help thinking about the 5M. If only my wife would have it !!

I guess you really have to ask yourself what your intended use is and that should help narrow it down. Unless you just want to buy something for the sake of a new toy?

For me it would be the E92 M3 without hesitation.

However it depends on what you’re using it for. Carrying kids, a dog, and/or poncing about then get the X5.

If you want a car you can actually drive and still fit the kids in (if you have kids?) etc etc then it has to be the M3.

    Absolute nonsense talk.

Forget all this rubbish and buy a Phaeton W12. Sheer class and bargain to boot.

I probably won’t have either very long, and don’t really need either, just like them.

Agree Jay. The black 911 Turbo was a keeper. Better than any Ferrari in my eyes.

As everyone else has said it depends what you want but I’d go for an X5M just for the sheer ridiculous type of car it is.

In which case you may as well buy the much superior and likely better residual valued RRS SVR. Having driven both I would buy the RRS.

Or alternatively if you wash with champagne and nibble caviar for a mid afternoon treat you could opt for the vastly outrageous Lamborghini Urus.

Personally I'd find another cl65amg. I don't know if you had a chance to open it up but that V12 engine is something else. No wonder Pagani Zonda used it for their cars and if you get bored you can get them mapped to over 700bhp
    What year was the cl65amg?
