e46 MK4 navigation software help please....

HI,

I've just been playing around on INPA as my ULF has stopped pairing with my phone....
Anyway, whist I was playing around, I've pressed something on the NAVmk4 menu & seem to have lost the operating system.
My screen is displaying "Loading of software required, please insert a suitable CD Rom"
I don't have a CD ROM to insert, what can I do?

Any help appreciated!

Are you sure there isn't one in it already? Not sure if it'll work without one.
I believe it can be a bit of a pig to actually eject though. Maybe google that.

There is an aftermarket map disc (2011) in the drive. I'm gussing this disc is different to the software, as it's worked fine in the 7 years I've had the car.

See what others with more experience than me say but I think the firmware is on the disc as well as the sat nav software.
It may just need reloading or maybe the laser has gone on the unit. That happens. I had to have a new one in mine.
@XKaLiBaR sorted mine out and may be able to offer suggestions.

Sounds like you have inadvertently wiped the OS. I did the same a few years ago. You’ll need to reload it. @ccfj1 is your mate here as the OS is a separate disc to the maps.

My disc is a 2011v version!
I don't think I've ever used the Nav, what does the 2019 High disc add John?
