Hi all, recently purchased an e46 m3 and would like to take it to a local specialist to get it checked over basically. It's a great car but wouldn't mind a list of issues which I can look to get sorted.

There's a few bits which aren't standard so wouldn't mind taking it back towards standard.

There's slight wear to the bolster driver side too, so wouldn't mind getting that repaired too, if anyone knows of a good place for interior upholstery in South Wales too.

    Many thanks
    Dan

Managed to get the car on a ramp local to have a look myself, found a few smaller issues which I'll get round to fixing. Noticed one of my shock absorbers is dead, and the bottom ball joint attached to it isn't looking too clever!

The car is lowered too much for my liking too, and as such the rear tyre inner edges are wearing a bit more than I'd like. The car came with a set of adjustable rear camber arms which I'll get round to fitting soon. It has have an annoying clunk in the drive line too, i'd like to try and find the culprit for this. I'll get in touch with Reddish and hopefully they can advise

Where about are you from buddy?

Reddish is no doubt one of the very best places to go but there are also others locally.

I'm in Bridgend mate. Have started to get bits together for the car now. Some wishbones are next on the list.

I’ve recently used The ramp room at Cwmbran. All I can say is this place is really on the up. The service was second to none. I had been using a local garage and I had found out that my previous garage wasn’t renewing parts as charged for and also created problems which went on to cost me well over a thousand pounds. Barry at the ramp room was my saviour I had updates on a regular basis he also supplied videos and also all the old parts. There’s to many cowboys willing to snatch your money nowadays but the ramp room has restored my faith that there is still good people out there. They resolved a long going issue for me and as explained before was caused by shoddy and poor workmanship by my old garage who claims to be a specialist in Bmw. I have no problem recommending the ramp room and will not be using anyone but them to do my car in the future.

    Hi Kev

Thanks for the reply. Ideally i'd like to have the car checked over by a specialist to get their opinion on a few noises and the best route to take the car from where it is towards standard. if that's something you can help with that would be great.

I ended up getting all the parts ordered in from BMW and doing the work myself. I took it to Avia then to get the alignment sorted out following the work!

Have been using it all summer when the weathers been good :)

took it for a front end paint refresh too :)

In south wales (south east anyway) you've got Autotech in Ponthir, Forza in Caldicot, ramp room in cwmbran (for M cars mainly), promotive (rogerstone area), B&R (cardiff).

Of course just a quick nip across the bridge then is Redish, where my car is going for main servicing (inspection 1 & 2), ramp room will be used for all other work I don't want to do myself along with annual oil services.

I have heard good things about the ramp room. I am fortunate to have access to my own ramp so ended up doing the work myself over the space of a week or so, I didn't have to rush anything and as it turned out the work was very straightforward which was a nice surprise, albeit time consuming. It was good to be able to see the condition of everything and I know everything is torqued correctly(I have previously had issues with other peoples 'work' on my cars).

Ideal, if I had my own ramp access i'd do a lot more work myself, doing work on axle stands without necessarily all the correct tools is more hassle than its worth.

Ramp room are getting a very good reputation in the Porsche scene aswell as performance (including M) cars in general. Having spoken to Barry there a few times prior to buying my M3 I can confirm they are knowledgeable, competitively priced and very helpful... wouldn't hesitate to take my car there, in fact I will be for some bits and pieces in the coming months.
