Have to say the photography is stunning in your ad.

What camera do you use for photos like that?

Spent 2 days doing the annual "big" detail to the M3..... Pleased with the outcome considering its now a 13 year old car.

Will do some interior shots later in the Week.

Looks great. Wish mine looked that fresh. Mine needs a respray in the next year or so to bring it back up to scratch.

Still haven’t fitted the plaque in the car either.

    Cheers Moseley.

After taking photos of the interior I've realised there's a few bits I missed (due to poor lighting?), especially the dirt around the edge of the Satnav screen and the filthy door seals which I've now cleaned! Going to have to revisit some other areas. That said, you wouldn't guess that I used the M3 to transport 600+ sacks of Clay/Soil/Rubble to the dump over a 4 Month period! I was generally very careful and had sheeting down, but exposed bits like the seatbelts were caked in clay by the end of it all.

Under the bonnet I only did the paintwork, not the engine or ancillaries.

    Looking nice, great colour.

Seeing your engine bay reminded of my recent experience. I have to be honest and say I've never cleaned the bay beyond a bit of a wipe round in the 13 years I've owned mine, mostly because of nervousness in going in too aggressive and causing issues with elecs etc.

I picked up Chemical Guys EcoSmart-RU (ready mix spray dispenser), CG Black On Black (aerosol) along with a detail bristle brush and some cheap MF cloths.

A gentle, targeted spray of the EcoSmart, then within a few minutes, a gentle agitation with the brush and wipe off with MF. When that was done, a spray of the Black On Black. Plastics such as rad shrouds, intake, cabin filter housings, headlight surrounds, expansion tank etc, hoses, cam cover, the lot. Then another MF wipedown. Given the bay was mostly road grime rather than oil or greasy residues, those 2 products did a great job. Never used the voodoo of waterless before and was impressed, moreso in that I have loads of the bottle left too

    Recommended, with very little grief

Sounds good Snowdog, I'll look into getting some of that.

I don't have much in the way of products and a bit old fashioned in my detailing methods. I was a detailer many years ago long before any of the modern products were available, and before people used a DA to polish cars - It was just a lambswool mop on a rotary back then, get it wrong once and it was game over, but having that in mind was enough to get it right first time, every time. I remember using a mop to "melt" paint into the scratches! Oh, and a sharp razor blade was the equivalent to a modern clay bar lol!

If one product can do multiple things then I use it...

I use Meguiars Endurance tyre gel on almost everything black..... Bonnet vent, bumper grill, door seals, boot plastics etc etc. Paint it on with a brush, then buff it off and plastics come up like new with no oily residue. Smells nice too and 1 bottle goes a heck of a long way - I've had mine over a year and used about 1/3. Don't use the car a lot these days but it stays on the tyres for 3+ Months before needing re-application.

A soak with WD40 gets all the tar spots / flies off, and cleans up any shiny chrome parts before polishing them with autoglym high gloss protection.

Ammonia (£2.99 litre) and Sugar soap (80p) have lots of uses too.

    Lol.
This was with Cellulose paint.... Get it hot, spray some thinners on and you can move the paint around the panel!

    PF54OSK back on autotrader

This popped up on autotrader today:
    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201808159527558

According to the front page here it was listed in June for a bit less and with 2k fewer miles. On face value it seems pretty honestly priced, having the original bill of sale is good.

On another note, just dropped mine off at PMW this morning for a service, hoping all is well...

Yup its my car but not listed on Cuttersx we all know how a for sale ad goes :muttley:

Had so many timewasters - “ will you take £9k” like he’s doing me a favour.

I had taken a deposit on the car and removed the autotrader ad - only had a day left anyway. 4 days later “I cant get insured on the car”.

Car is on ebay auction, everything is listed and have had so many messages and offers.

I might just keep it, got my eye on another and can’t justify a 4th e46 m3.

where I live, there is 4 Silverstones including mine. 3 coupes and one convertible, might help tick some more off the list.

    So much for rarity haha

The vert was a stock photo for the m3portal site

Any chance you could PM me the reg numbers of the Coupes?

The convertibles aren't Silverstone Editions and don't have Silverstone specs, there was a small batch of them right at the end of the production run (most are 2006 registered), maybe to use up the leftover paint!

Always wondered, that site that says there were 52 Silverstone cars, does that include the 50 Editions? If so that would make mine one of of only 2 Individual Silverstone Coupes, anyone know??

    Hi Steve,

There were 50 Silverstone Editions plus one Pilot car (which has been written off).

In circa 2002 Silverstone Blue was available as a pricier paint option on Individual models. I suspect yours was one of these. Probably quite a bit rarer than an actual Silverstone Edition but without the fancy name.
