Hi guys, I've only had my car since March and it feels like I'm chasing my tail with oil leaks and other issues.

A reputable specialist has just changed the rod bearings and bolts along with associated gaskets etc and there's an oil leak neither myself or the specialist can solve.

The leak is in the area below the exhaust manifold right at the rear below the cam sensor.

So far we've changed the cam sensor O-Ring, the CPV seal and the rocker cover gasket whilst the valve clearances were done.

Has anyone whose had the S54 in enough bits shed any light? Thank you.

Hopefully the photo below will show the area concerned.

That's what I thought but the leak is too high for that, I put a scope into the bell housing and it appears dry in there.

Oil feed to the cylinder head is on that side at the very back of the engine, sometimes it’s possible to get a light misting of oil in this area which my of mounted to more over time.

How long does it take to see the leak again once it’s been cleaned off?

Ah, that's handy. A one hour drive will produce a decent amount of oil in the reinforcement plate.

I would get them to double check the CPV is tight.

When I replaced mine, it went tight, but I noticed that it wasn't in the same position as the one I removed.

So I had another go at it, and it turned another 1/8 of a turn which put it in the position of the original one, and you couldn't force it to go anymore than that either.

I'll give the CPV a further but careful tweek.

The leak is coming from above that position though, I think my next step is to remove the rocker cover and check how the new gasket is sitting.

I'll have to dig out the receipt, but Redish traced mine back to a cam chain follower bolt (or something)
