    Hi All,

With a heavy heart i am selling my pride and joy due to work relocation in the next couple of months. My original plan was to buy a nice example and keep it for life but things don't always work out like we've planned them.

So to the car now, i purchased this example on August 2017 from a reputable BMW specialist and have maintained to the highest standard regardless of cost as this car was a keeper. I have spent north of £10,000 in maintenance and upgrades during this period.

Just being frank, but you’ve got a very slim chance of selling an E46 M3 with 75k + miles for £17.5k in your timeframe with a boot floor which hasn’t been reinforced, no rod bearing or vanos servicing and alloy wheels which need refurbing.

    My tuppence worth:
    • Take off the airbox and sell separately (for circa £1,000 - £1,200)
    • Take off the exhaust and sell separately (circa £800)
    • Return the map to standard
    • Refurb the alloys (cost of £50-£75 per corner)
    • Refurb the Sat Nav pixel screen (cost of circa £90 iirc)
    • Take off the rear window tint
    • Put up the car on the likes of Pistonheads etc in standard form (bar the Eibach springs) @ circa £15,000
    • List the amount of previous owners
    • Advertise the fact that the car has not had any MOT failures and just 4 advisories during its 12 year MOT history.
    • Avoid dropping the price every 10-15 days, it shows a potential buyer that you’re eager to sell and could mean they’ll be more likely to lowball you.
Doing the above will help you see a figure closer to £17.5k in a much quicker fashion, rather than it sitting on the market for months and not selling.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice.

I want to give the chance for someone to buy with the airbox and exhaust, as it really completes the driving experience with these upgrades. If it doesn't sell as is i will then remove these and sell as stock, this is my plan B. I dropped the price as i believe the new price reflects the real value of the car.

Im not commenting on your price but I think that is a sound advise from R60BBA
I have sold my 53 plate carbon black manual with imola interior under 80k miles with carbon airbox, CSL map, bilstein coilvers, subframe reinforced, new wheels, tyres brakes,no rust, mint for £15k.It did take a while.

That is a really well presented example however without any of the main e46 jobs being taken care of yet I feel at that price you will be holding on to the car for a lot longer than you think.

Re the wheels I'd get them refurbished, regardless of the condition of the car the wheels and tyres will always get inspected and when it's a relatively easy job to repair it takes one less stumbling block away from the sale of your car.

Best of luck with the sale it looks really clean and as rob has said I wouldn't keep bumping the price as it shows your in a hurry to get rid. At the end of the day there is a buyer out there for everything but pricing is the key.
