I’m sure there are no import charges with Karbonius unless it’s changed , the box was with snorkel £1,800 but this was last year and if you allow £500 for map and fitting plus £200 for bits it’s £2,500 .... but like I said this was last year

I've bought the Haimus airbox knowing the initial issues with streamline design (Note that they are now two distinct entities).
The design has been revised multiple time and is now finalized. CF trumpets and not 3D printed ones, no reinforcements bars, full aluminum hoses connectors, IAT specific location,.....
The box sounds really great. Wake-up around 3500rpm and scream until 8200.

I’m going to stick with the karbonius - tried and tested design and quality.

Those videos are frightening.

Why would any engineer think that 3D printed trumpets were acceptable? The ridges caused by their fabrication will create permanent localized eddy currents that will throttle each trumpet down to a fraction of their size.

Geoff Steel for me - although the Karbonius box looks the bollox, I can't justify the extra cash for something which will not be seen 95% of the time.

Both Turner and Evolve boxes have had similar issues and the newer Haimus design has all been much improved. All of the boxes from that batch were recalled too regardless of showing failures or not. Friend got one for his M3. Was taken back and given a new one and in fairness, it's very good quality.

Re vat and import duty, I think there are some misconceptions here. You may well have to pay vat on import but not before vat is removed at source - you don’t pay it twice - so this won’t affect the price.

Also import duty is only payable on items imported from the eu if they are less a 30% manufactured in the eu, so does not apply to karbonius.

Add in the fact that the euro has weakened recently against the pound and the karbonius isn’t a bad price right now.

A mate has this box, however without back to back testing with the normal CSL shaped one it’s impossible to say which is the better option.

We actually spoke to Karbonius about it… even they haven’t back to backed it, they couldn’t tell us what advantages this box had over the normal shaped CSL one, it was actually a bit weird.

It also makes you wonder why they designed and made it, maybe to just plug an extra gap in the market.

I got a quote this week from GSR and will be going with that one. Karbonius pricing is to me is just too much.
Im not adverse to spending big money on the car and I know they are supposed excellent finish but not really worth the considerable extra cost for what it is that’s just my opinion.

What did they quote you?

I had a carbon roof from them a few months ago and the quality was surprisingly good for all the flack they get.

It was their website price £1395 + £45 delivery.
Lead time is 8-10 days extra bits to fit a manual car was about £100 I think.
