Very interesting reading Suraj. I bought my E46 M3 in November 2014. Just signed in on here. Although as from 2 days ago my car has a electrical fault, 40 amp fuse in Ebox has popped twice now. Any ideas please would be much appreciated?

    Summer increase?

    Thanks for the great guide.

I am looking for a convertible and was wondering how much do they go up by in the summer. Am I much better off waiting until winter to buy one or does it not make much difference?

I will give this guide a big update soon to reflect the time that's passed! But hopefully it's still been useful alongside the subsequent comments in the thread which I hope all prospective buyers read after reading the guide.

Haven't read through this whole thread but I know this isn't mentioned in the first post.. and it definitely should be because its invaluable advice...

Only applies to SMG cars. Golden rule - if you are going to view an SMG m3... do yourself a favour, put in £50 fuel into the tank and take it for an hour long test drive. Either you or the seller can drive.. This will show a pump that is on its way out that only start to show issues after 45 minutes of driving.

^If the seller objects to this then walk away from the car because they are well aware that you will identify the fault as a result of this test. They should have no reason to object if its all genuine, after all, you're paying for the fuel!

If you can spare £20 for a HPI check, you should be able to spare £50 in a bid to save yourself a £2500 bill and heartbreak. If you can't spare £50, maybe you shouldn't be buying an m3 :muttley:

    new m3 buyer

As a newbie sold 911c4 and future m3 owner ,hit some issues whilst trying to buy.
here goes,n process of purchasing an m3 e46 and using a fellow m3 guide which i think is really good.
But hit a bit of a weird one,
    in short ,
have shortlisted 4 m3 e46 on ebay, pistonheads and autotrader and using the autotrader sign in value my car have been able to get valuations on all cars that i am viewing using the my car tab .by inputting numberplates autotrader gives you trade in, and private sale values.
all good and running true on m3,s coupes and verts, for example vert on 31000m full bmwsh private sa;le 2003 11500.00, trade in 10500.00.coupe on 39000m full bmwsh 11600 ,trade 10200 2004.this has run true for all m3s i am viewing.

Then i find m3 vert on 39000 in imola red bmwsh 2002 here is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121999780213?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

and the valuation is 6500 but i think the car is very similar if not identical.

would be great if you could help me as to explain why the value is so diffferent on the 02 model.

looking to purchase but cannot fathom why the values are so different.
    can anybody help?

My car was built in November 2002, but it didn't have LED's, or the wider boot release. Why is that?

Also remember there's the difference between build date and registration date.

    Looking for M3 E46
Can anyone recommend M3 independent inspection for Bournemouth?

    Hi,

I recently joined as I am about to take the plunge and buy my first M3!

Given that I am smitten with the car it would be great for a specialist to take a look.

Can anyone recommend a M3 specialist that will be willing to take a look at the car based in Bournemouth?

Fingers crossed there is someone out there who can help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jas
