Have a word with the guys at Walton Motorsport. They made mine and several other track M3 systems and as they're custom made you get to choose how loud you want it. Mine is super quiet and still makes good power. Plus it was 28kg lighter than standard.
I ran a supersprint lightweight race with resonated centre section on my CSL and it passed noise limits at silverstone, donny and rockingham but doubt it would have passed at bedford!!
I run a supersprint race (not lightweight) with non res centre and decats and I pass everywhere.
Even Bedford. I do ocassionally get pulled up for getting close to drive by at bedford. So I just make my sessions shorter
thanks for everyone's comments, I bought the car with what I believe is a m style exhaust system which is pretty raspy, tbh I've never loved the m3 rasp but have got use to my standard system on my other m3, not sure on what to replace the m-style with as this ones going as a full on track car next year.
I've never liked the tinny rasp some E46s have. Mine runs original cats and just a Milltek cat-back and I really like the sound, quiet enough too... gets through Thruxton's 90db limit and normally makes 94db elsewhere!
