I’ve just been looking under the bonnet(hood)of my recently purchased 2007 manual e92 M3 coupe and discovered a small electrical plug, with a couple of thin coloured wires attached, that’s not connected to anything. It’s on the right side as you look under the bonnet (hood)from the front, just behind the foot of the right hand support strut. No photographs yet as it’s dark. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for replying Kev. Sorry I forgot to post a photo. Not sure about being the edc. The EDC lights come on when i press the button so it’s probably not that. I’ll post some photos tomorrow.

It’s probably for the bonnet switch or the auc sensor, look on the housing near it and it should be easy to locate where it plugs

It’s a sensor for the automatic recirculation built into your heater panel.

Mystery solved....I think. The car was in the local dealership for some Recall work on Monday and I asked about the plug. I was reassured that it was simply a plug that wasn’t being used because the car didn’t have that particular option fitted. Still no idea what it could have been for given the car is fairly well specked. ‍♂️
