    Hi,

E92 owner, just wondering if anyone has any advice on gear selection for slow corners, i.e. hairpins.

I understand 2 is good up to about 70, and the e92 peak power is in the high rev range, so normally drop down to 2nd for hairpins etc as don't see using more through gears with DCT likely to have the same impact it might do with a manual.

Had some instruction at Bedford and was told to use 3rd where I was originally using 2nd. I should have asked at the time...

    Any thoughts?

I find that if I drop down to 2nd, the car is at the higher end of the power band, it unsettles the rear and I lose time on the exit..it’s easier for me to build the power on 3rd

maybe just me having a heavy right foot though :lolwsign:

I do my slowish corners mostly on 3rd.

Think I tend to agree with this.

At Bedford in my E92 (a little while ago now) I used to flip between 2nd or 3rd for a few corners, but found that working on my entry speed, car balance and position would allow me to roll out of the corner with more speed and the less ‘spikey’ higher gear used to work better than a resultant loss of traction when using 2nd.

That said, it was always fun to push it on exit in 2nd, but I am not convinced it was faster. Smooth and quick was what I was told to aim for!

Cheers, I was thinking it might help maintain a smoother exit, back on track this Friday but it looks wet so will certainly be avoiding second.
