Seen these on a few other m3's but couldn't find where to buy them so I thought I'd try and make a set up. Bought some amber led strips, put them in the side grilles and wired them up to the oem ones. Pretty pleased with the look, just need to get some blank trim to replace the old ones now.

Thanks. I know there will be haters from the oem corner but it makes it my own.

Awesome! Pretty sure that the trims off another e46 are a straight fit (eg post facelift saloon or something). Not sure which though!

Imagine a csl with that mod in 10 years or so. Probably lose half its value. Cheap and tacky. Should be left alone to the Saxo Clio and corsa brigade

    I really like it.

But is it only tacky because bmw didn't do it? Would you class all of what audi are currently up to with there lights as tacky? Or is it acceptable to have a light show going on because the man at audi designed it?

My friend makes custom light clusters so I've sent him a link of your video, asking if he can make me one which illuminates from one end up to a full bar, like the audis do.

    :roflmao: haha

Can I ask tho deano, what was the financial cost on this? As my friend has given me a mates rate price to do this with an audi style light, but depending on how much it cost you would depend whether I'd say to him to make a few

Really is a simple mod. 30cm Amber strips from eBay (if you don't mind waiting a few weeks via China) then only £5 a set. Audi style ones would be a bit more I would guess.
Simply removed the side grilles, drilled a small hole into the side in line with the top chrome slat.
Fed the strip through the hole made and with the supplied 3m tape fixed them to the underside of the top slat.
Remove the oem side repeater and feed the strip wires through to join the oem plugs.
Pop everything back in minus the original bulbs and that's it!
    Half hours work, tops.
    Btw no dashboard errors either.
    Hth,
    Cheers.
