I couldn't get over how smooth the changing was its was silent, smooth and quick, just perfect.
20 seconds sounds way too quick to me.
Mine only took about 5 mins and thats pretty quick from what i've read (although the speed of the pc / laptop used is supposed to make a difference).
Don't forget I'm a brilliant driver mate!
Yes mate I tend to agree, I suspect that its because his current version uses the same base version for the csl so its just a setting change and not a full firmware change.
When I did a update from an old version of m3 firmware up to the latest csl it did take 5 odd minutes... which was what I was expecting.
I did confirm the new firmware with inpa and it *is** running 255 csl firmware
I have a quick laptop with a SSD and **** load of memory.
Can anyone in the midlands update mine for me pleaseee? I'll pay ofc.
Where do I sign up?
If you want to travel down to Cheltenham, then I can do it for you
Is this easy to do then? I loaded the rev matching etc into the dme last weekend and that's made a difference ahead.
if you have the right stuff then its easy-ish.
You need the usb-odb lead and the winkftp software and the latest version of the daten files.
you run winkftp and load the firmware for the smg and then input the vin and press programme.
if you do it in the car, then you need to make sure that the car is connected to a power tender or charger (as the ignition is full on for the update).
I'll take you up on that offer mate!. I'm free next weekend if you're free?. Pm me details pal.
John (ccfj1) did this for me tonight...
A world of a difference.. the changes are now smooth, silent and quick... just brilliant!!
Many thanks for the new gearbox John!!
John a newby sort of question. I have the evolve re map with rev matching will I have the CSL Smg software as part of the re map?
Doubtful. It's done at the gearbox ECU not the engine ECU
I can do it for you Dino. You're only down the road from me
No, I doubt it. As chainy says, different ecu.
It does work in unison with the csl engine dme addons though.
This may be a dumb question but I don't quite fully understand. I've had CSL rev matching software done by Evolve. So what else do I need to update ?
Post number 21 Sean.
If you have the CSL rev matching software done by Evolve, then your engine ecu/dme is all done, no more updates (other than the csl inertia fix).
This thread is talking about the gearbox ecu/dms update to csl.
The csl gear box has different software to that of the m3 and cs (I've checked).
You dont have to have the gearbox updated at all, it works just fine without it (the latest version for the m3/cs is not bad actually).
If however you want the full csl gear shift experience, then think about the update (to the gearbox).
Get out in the garden and cut those trees down, you haven't got time for cutters today John.
And I've done the door mirror module and a new headlight lense. Lol
Thank you John.
