The Assembly number of 7843255 means that its running the latest version of the CSL SMG software/firmware.

Just need to test it out now :) (I don't have an SMG either, lol)

Need to get your DME updated now, and rewrite it with rev matching. Did it to mine last week its's much better.

You might want to edit the photo and remove your vin.

EDIT: Never mind, ust read you haven't got smg!

No, if you are running 255 on the smg dme then you are good to go.

You can do the dme rev matching yourself mate.

    indeed, nice one. :)

Get the smg inertia fix done as well then, (on the engine dme), it helps with clutch slur/clutch release.

If it was done by Mike it will have been at the DME. If it was done at the SMG ECU with CSL software your car would be starting in A3 mode

    Digital Motor Electronics (DME).
The comprehensive management system for your engine: Digital Motor Electronics (DME) controls all key aspects of the engine's operation, ensuring optimum reliability, maximum performance and the lowest possible fuel consumption and emissions.

    I understand this bit

The gearbox software just compliments the DME software. If you was to only have it done in the one place it would be at the DME as it makes the most notable difference to how the car drives. The latest version of the gear box software just smoothes changes out and adds a slight difference to the rev matching (more pronounced). Earlier software was more brutal and probably how BMW intended it but it got refined over the years. the newer software will defo be easier on the drivetrain. I love the CSL clutch parametres but it WILL wear your clutch out faster (although no more than the real CSL)

Indeed, 255 is a lot smoother than 731 (I've heard).
