    Evening all,

Wonder if I can get some help with your thoughts on this query.

I have a spare E46 M3 CS steering wheel which I intend to sell. I've done a big old search but can't find any idea how much to price this at.

I understand it's a rare item as the upper trim has only the M Track button and the associated wiring.

Is this the same item as found in the CSL?

I have the wheel, upper and lower trims, plus internal metal cage that holds the air bag and the wiring (no airbag).

The upper and lower trims could do with a refurb. The alcantara wheel could do with a refresh too.

Would I be better off getting it all refurb'ed or selling as is..

Any thoughts on price would be appreciated.

    Cheers

If genuinely off the legendary m3 cs I wouldn’t have it refurbed as t will lose value if over restored. The patina is what people want when searching for ultra rare automobila. I would hazard a guess of anywhere between 3-400k to the right buyer

If it’s from a CS, it could be from either a manual or SMG car. From a genuine CSL will obviously be SMG only.

The wheels are otherwise exactly the same from both CS/CSL. However, an SMG wheel with switches/paddles will usually command more than the equivalent manual item.

Realistically, in the condition you describe, I’d say £150-200 for a manual, maybe £250 or a little more for SMG.

And I wouldn’t bother getting it refurbed. For a relatively rare item, it’s better to leave it OEM and price accordingly, then the buyer can decide whether or not to refurb.

If it needs a refresh then its just the same as a leather on retrimmed imo.

I paid £200 for a nice condition SMG version not too long back just to give you an idea.

Cheers, it's on eBay so I'll just let it go for whatever it finishes at.

After BenBRG read this his heart literally sank in the same way someone on antiques roadshow finds out there 3 generation old family heirloom diamonds are not the real deal and only worth £250...:muttley:

Works the other way too. Someone took an old teapot (cracked with no lid) into Woolley
and Wallis saleroom in Salisbury. He reckoned he had been done over when he bought it for £15
and wanted to try to get rid of it. Turns out to be a very rare pre-revolution American. Its expected to fetch over £100,000.

My mrs is in the antiques trade and has been waiting all her life for something like that to happen to her !

The eBay buyer pulled out, [email protected]@king timewasters.

I'll probably relist on ebay or post a new advert on here. It went for £220 in the end.

If any Cutters want to make me an offer please drop me a line.
