    Hello

I need to register my battery in my E92 M3 (2008). I have an old IBM thinkpad which i can rebuild with windows 7 or possibly XP if I can find the discs.

I have a new battery to fit which i need to register and I dont really want to go down the Carly route as it is subscription based and their responses in Google play dont give much confidence.

What software do I need on my laptop to code the vehicle / register the battery. I might just go down the foxwell code reader route as that seems pretty good.

    Cheers

Sounds like alot of aggravation to register a battery. Carly is fine just use that, you only pay once AFAIK

Sadly Carly is now subscription and only works with BMW's. I think the Foxwell NT520 looks OK but really wanted to understand how to install INPA.

dunno if you still get it but there was an easy install inpa from a company with other bmw progs and a lead for about £40 or so-goes on xp or 7 pro

INPA works on Win10 so why the rebuild? You have not said what is on the laptop anyway

Currently I have a spare IBM thinkpad which has Ubuntu on it. It could run XP or Win7 at a push. In the end I went down the Foxwell NT520 route as the functionality outstrips Carly, there is no subscription and will work with other manufacturers.

    INPA also works on 7
