Had my renewal price through recently, £160 more than a few companies on generic comparison sites. Phoned to see if there's anything you can do and didn't expect you to match, just getting anywhere near would have been good enough.

Offered me £30 discount for early renewal after sitting on hold for nearly 40 minutes, very disappointing considering this time last year I was writing praise on the forum.

If anyone can have a look at it before I start ringing other specialist insurance companies that would be appreciated, inbox me for my reg :)

I had the same last week, except the guy didn't even bother to try to keep my business. He just said OK that's fine, I'll cancel your renewal. Bye.

    Ah well.

That’s what bothered me tbh, Alex has just shaved another £35 off the quote so it is abit more expensive still but saves me the bother of ringing around and spending hours on hold!

You said in the first post you’d sorted a cheaper price from the comparison sites, £160 cheaper.. so why would you spend time ringing round and hours on hold if you’ve already sorted it?
I always beat my renewals using the net. And even if the cheaper quote is with the same company once the details have been entered that’s it, done. I’ve never had to phone anyone.

I wouldn’t use the likes of 1st Central, Tesco etc to insure an 18 year old m3. Market value, modifications etc. I will happily however use them to gauge a price. The type of insurer I would like to use don’t quote on the internet or comparison sites. The daily is a different story, cheapest wins.

It’s when it’s modified it can become time consuming- making sure you get the correct cover and correct value is crucial

I literally spent 1-2 hours getting all the info correct when I moved from Sky as I’ve got a agreed value policy aswell

I too just had to cancel my renewal unfortunately. The yearly increase was just too much and I couldn't ignore the other offers on the market any longer.

I still have one car insured with Sky so i am hoping when the renewal for that one comes up they can do something for me since I've been with them nearly 10 years...

The same happened to me, found it over £170 quid cheaper than my renewal, phoned up to make sure they didn't automatically renew the policy, so I asked about price match only to be told "that was our best price" so I'm guessing they have changed underwriters and I don't fit their criteria anymore.

I always have a look at the comparison sites before renewing and have had my insurance company match the price many times, but twice this year, with two different companies I've tried it and they haven't seem bothered about losing business.
