Hi on the off chance anyone would be so kind I thought I'd reach out to the community for some assistance. In short near me they have installed annoying speed bumps that caused £1,700 damage to my car. Very briefly the legal max height for a speed bump is 100mm and these are over 100mm therefore illegal.

A safety audit was carried out and they were advised (before installation) that the bumps were dangerous and should be either relocated or not installed. But the highway agency are being a-holes.

A petition was started this morning if anyone is kind enough to simply sign it I'd be really grateful a local village had similar issues and with 300 signatures managed to get them eventually removed.

Your e-mail will always remain hidden although whatever name / alias you use and comments (if any left) will be visible to others.

They made a local news article yesterday as well http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/road-bumps-giving-drivers-right-13995256

Anyway thanks in advance if anyone can assist.

Even if you have a bog standard 6 series BMW you can't get over these!

Signed. I hate speed bumps. As I put on there, they increase air pollution and noise pollution, and generally frustrate people into a more erratic driving style than they would otherwise do.

In many cases small cars have to slow a lot and that usually goes hand in hand with a white van man or large SUV up their arse. I don't know what the solution is but it isn't to chuck a big pile of tarmac in the road.

Better use of time is to properly repair our generally ****e road surfaces and think of other ways to calm traffic in black spot areas. Seems like some bureaucrat just wanted to give his favourite subby a days work to me.

    Will happily sign.
Incidentally have you noticed that with the big cushion shaped ones that most drivers straddle, you very often get potholes either side of them from all the braking/acceleration? Do they fix them? Do they f uck.

I had these outside my old property and the noise from cars catching them was horrific . But the worst thing was the local kids used them as jumps and ramps for their bikes, scooters and skateboards. Not only was this ridiculously noisy but actually meant the kids would congregate in the road which is the opposite of what they are for

If there is damage to your car from a pothole or poor judgement in civil engineering which has resulted in your car being damaged then that local authority/council should with proof of damage reimburse you. This has happened to me before and my local council paid out (took months but we got there).

They're supposed to be removal all speed humps because of the huge levels of pollutions and emmisions they cause when people constantly brake anfd accelerate between them, not making more huge ones!
