This - £32.00 a month for the same package (the Broadband is superb- looking at lowering my phone internet from Unlimited to 10GB a month now) They are putting our price up to £35.50 a month this month but still saving £70.00 a month over TalkTalk and Sky who I was with before- piss takers
Up to 60mbps super fast I believe. I know the buying public likes to see gigabit this and 500mbps that. Ultimately with two adults living in a house streaming TV etc. It is wholly unnecessary. 4K streaming is around 5mbps. So two people streaming whilst another gaming still wouldn't even be scratching the surface. Spouting these daft speeds is to lure customers into paying more. That said if it drops out every four seconds its a bit of a moot point having super fast with Virgin which is why I got them to end my contract early.
60mbps will do fine I hit 111mbps yesterday (wasted though as don’t need it- but nice to know got more than enough)
I would love faster dont get me wrong. I just prefer reliability but I am starting to question as someone with no technical knowledge is it Virgin or the router.
Well the router isn’t anything special lol 100mbps is perfect if you have 3/4 teenagers a wife, you and home working/gaming all the time I have me the wife and a 5 y/o daughter (who watches cartoons on the IPad for 30 mins before bed) Not required lol
I have had virgin broadband for 10 years now (in different houses) and have never had any problems. Never once had to phone up about any problems etc. I pay around £40pm but my speeds have always been super fast and trouble free.
See part of the reason I am sort of thinking Sky is I would like the option to add TV back fully in future if I want but I get that with Virgin too. Only thing in our bedroom that riled me with Virgin is the box has two very stiff cables coming out of it and it looked a mess.
I couldn’t get it anywhere cheaper especially 100mb so I stuck with virgin. They tried to up it to £44 on renewal but managed to get it down to £34 but on a 2 year. I love the TiVo box also.
18 months...if I need to be a new customer to get a better deal at the end of my current virgin contract I'll just leave and then re-sign with my wifes details the same day.
I’m just in the process of trying to get my £75 Amazon voucher, what a pain it is. I assume deliberate so people throw in the towel. It’s with broadband choices who are looking into the delay. I’m also paying £24 month for 110mb I think it is.
True I was referred to by a friend didn’t get a voucher and neither did they When they installed the cabling they made abit of a hash of it I had to sort it myself as got nowhere If they were more money I would’ve left but their pricing and performance has made me stay
I've used VM for years at my parents and I only had 1 issue, where VM dropped out completely for the majority of London due to everyone working from home and VM Not being able to cope with the load. When I moved into my new place, I went with VM over Sky due to the speeds that I would get. It's been spot on so far and it's faster where I am now compared to where I was before at my parents!
On balance I reckon Virgin are the better choice...I had 50mb through a BT copper line and it was just about ok but 100mb seems more future proof. True when things go wrong with Virgin it can be a bit of a ball ache getting it sorted..but then so was getting an Openreach engineer to sort out problems plus I needed a change of routers from Talktalk and that took forever to sort. I only get BB from Virgin...I bought a Humax Freesat HDD recorder for TV channels (uses the same Sat dish as Sky) plus Netflix, occasionally Amazon Prime if there is something to watch....cheap Sky through Nowtv (typically £5 a month for entertainment channels Atlantic, Sky One etc) and occasionally Sky Movies if there are any movies to watch (again about ~£5 for a month). Current total for all of the about under £50 a month which seems pretty decent. Or BB, Freesat TV and Netflix for ~£30 depending on the deal you get from Virgin.
Interesting timing of this thread. I just got a Starlink email. But, at £89/mo and the same due up front...I dunno... £439 for the hardware. They're looking at mid-late 2021 for a rollout our way. I'm half tempted to do it as I'm a whore for all things tech so... 54 for shipping/handling. Hopefully they don't toss tax/duty on that as I'm assuming it's shipping from the States. And I signed up. Easy peasy as I have a network box already on the roof so it will be as easy an install as possible.
I would look into TalkTalk By far the best deal I've had from them and they always give me a excellent cusotmer service. Been with talktalk now for 2yrs before that I was with Sky and they were a joke!
