Quick question, from a man who needs instant gratification and has a day off tomorrow: where is best for me to buy BM3 from and how long does it take to receive the required registration details?

I knew this platform looked cool but didn't realise the ECU unlock part was fixed!

Amazon can deliver me an OBD cable in the space of a few hours. What a world we live in.....

Mid 2016 car here with no faults thus far. Ran stage one for 6 months/8k miles inc two trackdays and a ring trip. All is well however there is always that worry in the back of my head for sure

Car is very quick with the stage 1. The family saloon destroyed my friends 997.2 GT3 RS and his fettled 996 turbo on the autobahn on route to the ring

I took the plunge a couple of days ago and ordered off Peter (details on page 5 of this thread). A pleasure to deal with. I paid a very good discounted price via PayPal and received the activation key immediately after this. Then it was a simple matter to download the software to my laptop and into the car.

I am only interested in the CS map and stage 1 as I won't be doing any further mods to the car.

The software comes with one map of your choice but I was amazed to find that the CS map is also for free. So that meant I could download both the CS map and the stage 1 map for no extra charge. What a bargain!!!

Downloading both maps to my laptop took 5 minutes and opening the DME and flashing the CS map took another 5 minutes.

The software is incredibly easy to use if you stick to just keeping with the standard ost maps, but you can customize your own maps if you want.

There's a diagnostics tab were you can read and clear codes. A data logger and a dashboard where you can read key readouts while the car is running.

You can also adjust the maps to change bubbles, exhaust flaps, speed limiter etc without fear of messing with the map or damaging the car.

At the moment I have only flashed the CS map and plan to try the stage 1 soon.

The best feature for me is that the software allows you to swap maps anywhere, you just need your laptop and to tether it to your phone. This way I can drive to the track with the CS map and then upload stage 1 track side and then reflash CS back before going home. I suspect the stage 1 will be good for the power circuits and the CS better for the more technical circuits like brands.

All in all I am very impressed with the adaptabilty of the software and look forward to exploring this more.

I have only driven the car briefly since flashing the CS map and I need to get on track asap to understand how it properly feels. However the CS map only adds a small amount of power but the torque delivery is noticeable and if feels initially alot smoother coupled with the GTS traction settings. Which are also free with this software!

I hope to get down to Surrey rolling road next week if they can fit me in and see how these two maps perform there. :)

    Happy days :):):)

My OBD cable was delivered this afternoon to a neighbour but I can't work out which one :bh:

Hopefully someone speaks up tomorrow so I can start flashing. The car, obviously - not my neighbours

You only get GTS transmission with BM3, increased clutch clamping force and quicker shifts or so they say!

Ah! Fair enough. I've only touched the surface of bootmod3 but looking forward to learning more.

So hardly noticeable between normal transmission and GTS transmission.

Excellent write-up. Did you use a battery charger whilst unlocking the DME?

Mirroring what Ultimike said, I unlocked and flashed the 93 Octane OTS Stage 1 this morning. Super simple process. Didn't use a battery charger, probably stupid but I got away with it.

Not got the car out onto proper roads yet to test but will report back later today on how it runs :)

Thanks for that write-up @Ultimike, definitely confirms that the software and platform is as straightforward as everyone says.

I liked the idea of increasing the ponies to over 500, but then I thought about how I drive and where I drive and realised that I would probably get to enjoy the additional power perhaps 6 times a year while joining a motorway from a long, straight slip-road :)

My M4 has just turned 4 years old (yes, there was cake) and has 46k on the clock. I love the car and as I do maybe 3 or 4k miles in a year, there's no reason I can't enjoy it for a few more years yet. In an unusually sensible/boring move, I decided not to pay for BM3 and instead purchased an extended warranty :lolwsign:

I live on an island in Scotland, why on earth would I want a rear wheel drive performance car with even more power...
