I am shocked that my seat bolster has done this already.
Car has done 19k miles. Any chance of a warranty claim or do i have to wear tracksuit bottoms for the rest of my life.
Never had this happen on any of my previous cars, and ive done many many more miles in them.

People have had it done under warranty there has been other threads on here .
Mine has a tiny bit of wear already and I’ve only done 2000 miles in my m3 and I get in and out of my car really really carefully ! .
For showing early signs of wear the M3 is the worst car I’ve ever had .

I have similar wear, tried to claim, dealer said no, it's wear and tear. Spoke to manager of the dealer, same thing, they weren't having any of it.

13,000 miles approx on my car.

I've heard of a couple of people told the same. I had the seat badges changed under warranty. Wish I had pushed for a few other things before it expired. The seat bolsters though - the wear is so bad that even with a replacement, they will be back to worn after not too long anyway.

I move my seat back every time I get out the car, having seen the wear on some owners cars.

Bit of a faff, but means there is the space between seat & wheel to spring out the seat a bit more & avoid the bolsters.

I hear of a lot of people going into BMW and getting tons of things done FOC without issue on warranty or getting great courtesy cars but I've had to fight hard for my warranty issues and been given Mini's instead of something better. I personally know someone who got an i8 as a courtesy in place of their M4, a 7 Series or i8 as a courtesy in place of their 6 Series Coupe. I've seen people on here get given a 8 Series demo as a courtesy in place of their M3/4!

Keeping on topic as I said above with bolster wear, they've said it's wear and tear and nothing can be done. The last contact I had was that they were going to contact a leather specialist for a quote but despite chasing, no reply.

There is a leather repair specialist that I will be using instead: https://www.smintc.com/. I've been following him on Instagram for a while and he looks like he does great work, plus prices seem reasonable and he's mobile too, so he'll come to you within London, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Middlesex, Surrey or Essex.

I’ve got the same problem on my seats and I’ve had them since 6k Miles, now on 21k. I am tempted to do a warranty claim as it’s ridiculous.

BMW seat bolsters always seem to wear badly especially the light coloured leather.

That's not a great solution. We have warranty on these cars for a reason, for BMW to turn around and say it's wear and tear and then wash their hands of it is a joke.

I personally wouldn't give BMW MORE money to buy it and get them to fit it. They should honour the warranty claim and repair it FOC. It's worked for other people, but not for others, where's the consistency.

I'd rather use a leather repair specialist than give BMW my money.

I've seen how people crash their fat arses in to my passenger leather bolsters. Funny how my driver side has no damage on 3 last cars total of 200k miles but people have wrecked theirs after 6k.

It's how you get in. Nothing can wear unless you drag Jean's or buttons through it. Not sure what you expect... the wear is the polyurethane coating and colour on the top of the split hide leather underneath.

Learn how to get in and out without hitting the bolster.... here is a clue...

Sit on the chair arse first then turn if you are not nimble enough to lift your arse over the bolster whilst getting in sideways. If that fails put the seat back and then use memory function to go back to driving position.

update on this, car went it for a few warranty items - they replaced my whole bolster leather piece no question.........called it "premature wearing" as opposed to wear and tear.
