I have read online that the differential out of a X5 4.6 or 4.8 is a 3.91 ratio and has the 210mm housing the same as the E46 M3. I have been searching online if anyone has done it and can't find any concrete evidence. Has anyone on here done it?

I thought it was the diesels that had the shorter 3.7 or 3.9 final drive?
I believe there is also some with 4.1's....

They are 3.91 but they are still only a version of the medium case.

We have a 4.6 at work that we're fitting an S62 and making rwd and the diffs are definitely smaller than an M3 or M5. We were even wondering if we should try fit an large case diff to it or M5 subframe considering the X5s even eat their diffs with just the the smaller original engines and when driving all 4 wheels than just the two rears.

Been wondering... Will a X5 4.8 is cwp fit E46 M3 diff? Is it 210mm?
    Has anyone performed this mod?

Does anyone know if this can be done? As above I believe they are a 210cwp?

The 4.8s use a 215k or 220k diff. As far as I know the cwp isn't interchangeable with a 210 case diff.

210 case diffs are as far as I know
