i cannot believe how much this went for today:

    https://bidonline.ncmauctions.co.uk...-details/c846ec69-dc0e-4ce3-aa4d-aad50101f2b3

Ok so its a 1997 techno, done 118,000 miles, 7 former keepers!!!!
Last MOTd 2009 with the following failures:

    https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=2.47774372.2079514379.1572702336-966876388.1560352102

(Sorry above link wont work, enter reg P404PGU to see MOT history)

So, will need brakes, suspension, tyres and a whole lot more to get it right.
    AND.........
    Sold as a non runner.
Made £7500 plus 20% to the auctioneer.Thats 9k before you have even got it transported to your garage ready to throw money at it.
Am I missing something here? I own both a coupe and a saloon and my cars want for nothing and have agreed values with my insurance company that we both agreed on considering the mods and condition of my cars.

My question is you can buy a lovely example on ebay or pistonheads for around 9k and put petrol in it, insure it and enjoy.
Why would anyone buy this at the price it went for?????

Maybe a couple of previous owners know there's £5k worth of cocain hidden somewhere inside it?

At auction I'd have thought that would have been a £4K car.

I don't think you see many lovely ones around 9k on pistonheads anymore, but I assumed most on there were well overpriced too. EDIT but yeah that auction price seems crazy to me too!

£9k buys you problems that need fixing. An M3 is not cheap to fix.
I agree, I would not pay that much for it, but it doesn't mean that others wont.
If you listen to the select few who keep bashing these cars though you would think they was worthless

I think they are great cars, and were ridiculously good value a few years ago. I'm just not convinced they are at the 20k mark most on Pistonheads are asking now.

Had mine 6 years and have no intention of selling anyway, I still enjoy it a lot and it's never let me down.

I currently have my 1994 M3 Coupe in Daytona Violet, non Sunroof being restored at the paint shop, I wonder what that will be worth coming out with all these mad values? Interior will be restored also when it comes out. Full respray and full new exterior rubbers/trim etc from bmw.

Bought a 3.0 saloon in 2016 for £8,600 and it already had £12k spent on it.

Happy with investment. You have to remember these 4 doors are rare cars.

Been a while since I have been on this forum.

I have been asked by a mate to sell his M3 Saloon.

It is in great condition, he had a full respray recently.

    Interior is good too.

Feels great to drive, however, it is on coilovers and too low. He is taking it in to get it closer to stock height and ride, and getting a 4 wheel alignment done, with any arms etc, that may need replacing done.

It is 85k miles with full service history, but what would be a realistic price?

I'd put it up for 13 if he's not in a rush to sell, it may take a while though. Looks beautiful

    Thanks for that.

It owes him more than that, personally I wouldn't have had it resprayed.
Don't get me wrong, it looks stunning, but as a car to sell I think it would have been more sensible to have left it, as the car showed earlier.

I think he is going to have to put it up and wait for a buyer to come along who really, really wants it.

Yeah I think they are worth more, but looking at the market and how long the cars priced 15k+ have been up for sale for so long it makes you wonder...

Definitely starting to look retro cool now too.

I had so many comments on it the other day, I only nipped down the road to get a feel for it suspension wise etc.
Got stopped as I was getting it out of my garage, then again when I was checking tyre pressures and then again when I was putting it away.

I had that with the M3 CSL quite a lot, but not once in my E46 M3's.

So I think there will always be someone who wants one that has already been resprayed and will be prepared to pay for it, but right now nothing seems to be selling car wise.
The amount of deals I have been offered recently from main dealers, Mercedes. BMW and even Audi, who I have not bought a car from in probably 15 years, have all been on the phone recently offering silly deals, which shows me cars simply aren't moving, unless they are silly cheap.
