One way to see what has been done would be to contact the previous owner and ask the polite question of who mapped the car?
If the map was only recently put on the car then there may be and just may be a guarantee/warranty by which the tuner is responsible for the issues.

I did read tho If any DME flaashing/updates happen you must make sure that the Ghost is in service mode as it can corrupt the process.

    The theroy has some legs.

Just to update. I picked the car up this morning. Still the same.
BMW are not going to anymore to the car till the Ghost has been removed.

I have called up BMW finance and left it in there hands. It is in there interest to fix the car acording to them.

    Just a waiting game now.

If it were my car I would be getting rid of it.
Then go and buy a one without any issues and a good full warranty.
Then you will be able to see how nice a good one can be. :)

    So, an update.

I gave up with BMW and it now sits with the legal team for me to return the car.

In the meantime i got the car over to Litchfield for them to give it a once over. I mainly asked them to check for a crank/timing slip.

The tech came back and said that he could not find a single thing wrong with the car and timing was good.

So on the way home i put it into sports plus for the 1st time in ages (Worried about crank slip so have not been using it until crank confrimed now ok)

Anyway, everything was great. I was told that the tech had not changed a thing so that can be the reason for things working OK.

I did however use a different pertrol station on the way home. I have always used the same place and always use Momentum 99.

Could my regular place have a bad source of Momentum 99?
Did the tech reset something when doing his diagnostics?

Anyway it is working geat now.

I don’t think the fuel was to blame.
If the tech has not changed anything then he won’t have reset anything.

My guess is if this is fixed then the tech has possibly checked the connections on one of the various sensors and has made it seat fully to give it full connectivity.

If it is fixed then great but only time will tell.

With the issues you have been encountering I would have had Litchfield do the diagnostic and repair as they will be more likely to find the fault.
Reputable tuners have a greater wealth of knowledge when it comes to fault finding.

A good session on a rolling road would give an idea of how it is running.

I was always going to go to Litchfield if BMW gave me trouble.
Only problem was my booking with them was a 3 week wait. Thats why I went to BMW in the mean time.

Now i know that there is flag with BMW regarding the warranty I might as well get it mapped.

You have just said in your previous post that it’s in the hands of the legal team, to return the car. Now you say you’re going to map it.
Make your mind up, you have no chance of returning it if you map it, which given your problems with this car make no sense. If the issue doesn’t lye in the actual engine map, it won’t solve the problem anyway.
I don’t get it. Regardless of warranty situation, there’s a problem with the car. Just reject it, as is your consumer right. And buy a right one.

Pain in the arse for the OP.
However, 7K off is a good junk of money, and if he went in with eyes open and intends to keep / map / mod car then 7k goes a long way.
It sounds like a dodgy connector too me. Most car dealer "Techs" arent the brightest, and probably dont want to delve too deep as they know the car has warranty limitations - hence agree with others on probably better seeking help from reputable independent.

Petrol?? A crap tank of coal would cause the car to retard (or is it advance;)) timing however this would limit power all the time. How many tanks of fuel have you used since buying car?

Hope OP gets it sorted, and gets to enjoy the car.
