Hoping to try out my new Zestino 07 rs.... praying for dry weather !
Really good tyre for the price!!
I thought they were worth a punt at only £400 a set , just realised that they are the hard compound and
not soft ! Hopefully they will still be good , if not no big deal I will just use them for some drifting !
Doing with a mate if they let us on - two 996.1 GT3 K400 and also a mate with a Sepang Z4M Coupe. Should be fun...
what’s a gt3 k400 , not heard of that model ?
Noise was a problem for me last time , triggered the sound meter a couple of times near turn 3 but managed ok
with a slight lift and some decibel reducers ....
It’s a mk1 GT3 which has had a Carbon airbox added, the MAF deleted with Alpha-N engine management installed, BMC air-filter off the early 996 Cup car, new equal length stepped exhaust manifolds, new 100 Cell race cats, a proper X-over and finally a larger diameter and better flowing exhaust by MM. All the above raise the output from 360bhp factory to bang on 400, hence the designation. The kit was developed by Manthey Racing - used to be independent, but now are a Porsche subsidiary, just like AMG...
As for noise - yeah, it’s kind of shouty... You would definitely know I am on track. At least I have been a few times so I know where the mice are...
Sounds like a healthy gain for a n/a engine , thinking of removing cats and changing airbox after I get my suspension
sorted so that will be next on the list of things to do ....... it never ends !
Just keep your stints short. The softs let go a couple of times when I wasn't expecting them to when pushing at Snett.
Really fun day today at Bedford despite the torrential rain. Had fun skidding the car everywhere. Got official acknowledgement of my drifting skills (Got shown “no drifting” twice). All in a great day...
I was wondering how this day went as I never managed to make it on the day due to a electrical
gremlin with my car !
Checking the weather they had predicted heavy rain and as you say good for a bit of drifting , surprised you got
shown a warning board for drifting ! It’s understandable in the dry as the tyre screech can increase the
noise and upset the snowflake neighbours , but in the wet - come on guys use common sense it will not make
any more noise then the engine !
I remember a wet trackday at Rockingham once , what a laugh that was it’s so slippery that all you could
do was drift everywhere and no signs !
The no drifting rule is more to do with stopping others with “less skill” so to speak thinking it’s ok to drive in that manner.
You may be competent at sliding the car yourself, but someone else may not and be a danger to other drivers.
Nothing to do with excessive noise.
You will get some Marshall’s that are more laxed than others, especially towards the end of the day.
I had a day at Bedford earlier in the year, last two hours of the day were very quite, and one of the marshalls just turned the other way every time I came round.
Narrowly missed this one, thinking about 9th of November, anyone else booked in ?
