I has missed this was Xenons - mine has LEDs so that is what I was basing my comment on.

Mine are the Xenons with HBA and Adaptive on a 14 plate and they do all of the funky stuff mentioned above. Moving round corners, drawing 'dark boxes' around cars in front, not dipping when something comes the other way (just moving the beams to the left hand verge). Properly impressive bit of tech that i was always dismissive of until i sampled it. As noted before, needs to be dark before they really work effectively and on mine you just set the light switch to auto and press the 'A' button on the end of the stalk to light up the icon on the dashboard. Everything happens automatically then.

I do have a little giggle at my wife who has this on her 320 touring though. Three and a half years into ownership and she still doesn't trust it to dip the lights automatically! Or switch back to high beam...proper technophobe!!

I don't think mine are adaptive xenons though. They don't do that cornering thing where they turn, they're just static.

Be interesting to see what the deal is with the adaptive xenons. If they do all the clever light blocking stuff, I may be able to fit those a lot cheaper than the LED ones.
And I'm assuming the actual headlamp units on the F82 M4 are the same as the F32? Just so I can widen my eBay search when I've got the funds!

Only difference between adaptive xenons and Leds is the light projection. Leds are obviously a lot brighter.

Mine dip and move to the left when oncoming cars are approaching or they kinda split. It’s truly impressive.

Definitely not adaptive then mate. They should move to the left or split when oncoming traffic approaches and follow round corners etc

No, deffo don't do that. You've got me thinking now.. do I try and get a reasonably prices set of adaptive xenons or hold out for the full LED's, ideally the newer Icon ones.
I'm told you need INSTA to code them as well, rather than just esys.

Unsure on coding and what’s needed but I’ve had xenons with HBA (not adaptive) and currently have adaptive LEDS with HBA and they’re night and day over xenons. The newer icons will do the same but look much better especially with the turn indicator light located at the top of the lamp. It’s a sexier headlight that’s for sure.

I'm not in a mega rush to do these, so I reckon I'll just keep my eyes on eBay. A load seem to come up from Lithuania!

Yeah I agree mate. It wasn’t something I really wanted when looking for a car as there’s better items I wanted such as full leather, hud and surround view etc so it was more of a bonus but they are bloody good.

Lithuania! Probably took off stolen cars and selling them back to the uk lol
