Any reason why I shouldn't buy a 2014?

    Have seen a 2014 M4 that I like.
From reading on here, it looks like I can get the software upgraded to 2017 levels and its pretty much the same car, including suspension damping and diff / traction control settings?
I think I read a post of Alpina's saying that if you want to go with Comp Pack damper coding, you need a post 7/15 car - but then you need to go with comp pack springs as they have different spring weights etc (so probably not something I'd do).
Anything else to keep in mind?
    Thoughts appreciated.

I bought a new 14 plate when they were launched, had no problems with the drive and tbh don't notice any difference to my 65 plate

Nope, only thing you’re missing of course is warranty. But if the price is right, go for it. My previous car was a 64 plate F83.

Mine is a 64 plate and I had the software updated by BMW 2 months ago. I could of bought a 2015 or 16 at the time but was more interested in getting the right car for me as in the options, colour and mileage. Getting the update done has improved the drive but it doesn’t have the savage torque from the off anymore.

No regrets buying an early model.

    Thanks guys.

If it helps, have seen posts from Alpina527 where he can retro-programme 2014 engine software on cars updated to 2017 for the full fat unrestricted torque in lower 3 gears.

This is a question I’m interested in the answer to.

I’m still looking at F80’s but don’t fancy paying out to lease with an unrealistic (for my circumstances) balloon payment at the end.

As minor as this would be when it comes to deciding whether to buy a non comp car, can the pops and crackles be programmed in?

I did notice the lack of torque when I test drove a comp pack car. I expected a bit more urgency lower down. I take it a standard car has the punch low down?

    Apart from those burbles

I must say this car is epic. Finally had a dry Saturday, so washed and then driven.....hard.

Fantastic car and handles like a dream, I have more confidence when pushing to the floor and it just feels so composed.....but for some reason it's much worse on fuel. £45 it's had off me today.

I still wouldn't let CP be a deal breaker but it's definitely a bonus

Reading from other posts i guess ive been lucky with mine.
    No rattles or faults,
High spec and always oem parts/mods (apart from my canards ;) )
shes just done 30k on a 14 plate.
Some of the guys have said its above average, just out of initial warranty ive bought the extended comprehensive warranty for £85pm with £100 excess.
    (Ive done 6k in 2yrs,)
Im 60 at my next birthday and i bought this initially for my son but hes busy abroad but theres nothing out there that makes me want to move on so to speak.
I wish you good luck in your hunt for a good one
