First things I got was Ghost, Tracker, Faraday pouches and Steering lock.

Sorry to hear this OP, something like this is always at the back of my mind.

Can I warn you to check the faraday pouches on a regular basis as mine failed to work after a couple of months

I really feel for you friend
Easy for people to say don’t let them win but other factors come into play as long as you and your loved ones are safe that’s all that matters

So with ghost,. do you just carry a FOB or something? Might get one for my incomming M4, but is it worth it if I don't have comfort access?

    No fob
You set up a code using your canbus buttons traction m1 m2 buttons etc car will just stall as soon as a gear is selected if code not applied? It’s really simple and effective

Ah sweet, so you need to enter said code before you can start the car? Do you pay a monthly sub for it?

Sorry - police have some responsibility to catch scum - which I believe isnt high on agenda..
When I had my car stolen CID were involved as the "gang" responsible had nicked numerous high costs cars from area running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
My car after being stolen was reported to police as parked in a strange area by a member of the public. When CID officer was back on shift he noted straight away that the report was a stolen car and asked had local plod follow up on report???? Answer was NO. When they did check 14 hours later car was gone again.
Thieving scum bags leave cars in open site and watch them - see if they are tracked. No one comes looking - car is then moved on.

The very helpfull CID officer explained that the beat plod dont really care about car theft - as long as no one is injured. Maybe that is due to police being disillusioned with CPS letting these "f**ckers" go??
FWIW - when my car was nicked we had police on scene in under 4 minutes.....which I thought was great. Pity follow up actions werent as swift.

Id highly recommend, only reason my M4 is still sitting on drive. One off cost £400
I have mine set so the car will not start unless you enter the code. Even without comfort access its piece of mind, even if your keys were stolen they wouldn't be able to move car!

    No one off payment
Fitter will install it hidden in your car and that’s you
If you use same fitter you can transfer it to your next car?
You can start engine and input your chosen code and indicators will flash twice and that’s the signal your good to go
Also has a hijack feature if drivers door is opened after code is activated car will only go 500 meteres I think before indicators start flashing and engine will cut out this is optional if you want to input it and you can take it off also? No monthly fee costs about £400

Excellent, that's on my shopping list then. I take it's Thatcham approved?

    Sorry for the hijack OP.

You put in a code by using the buttons on the steering wheel dash, before you start your car.

With CAT 6 (I think) trackers, you need to carry a fob with you otherwise it will flag up as stolen.

    Not Thatcham approved IIRC.

I think it’s still being tested by Thatcham but don’t quote me
If you think what we spend on our motors £400 is a worthwhile investment in my opinion
As far as I know it’s never been breached yet but heard a Rs focus got removed on a transporter but no immobiliser would stop this?

There are a few instances of Ghost being overridden/bypassed.

Bypassed or they've guessed the combination? Suppose you'd never know.

Why can't we have a finger print scanner embedded in the start button, surely that's piss easy to do with the tech nowadays. Why don't manufacturers do this as a paid option?

Bypassed. There's videos on YouTube and a few articles if you google it. There was a video of Ghost fitted to an Audi, showing how to bypass it on YouTube.

There was also an issue with the Focus RS and Ghost where it could be "easily" bypassed. "Easily" as I don't know exactly was done or how easy it was.

Mines got a trackstar tracker and an immobiliser that as a fob which needs to be in the car .
Anyway I got the new keys today, but they won’t pair to the car ,so now I’ve got to take the car to the dealer,ho but it won’t move ,so now waiting for rac.
I was impressed with the speed the keys came but now the dealer as no answers to why they won’t work.

I've always been weary of things like Ghost.

If they are pre-paired to knick the car, then i'm sure they are pre-paired to confront you to get the combo needed to get it to run.

Also if you are out and about and someone tries to hi-jack the car or attack you as your getting in the car, you can't make a quick getaway if you have to put the ignition on and then press random buttons before the car will run.

yeah and also installer error can contribute to the ghost bypass in some cars. my mate has a lovely rs4 and the guy who did the ghost did it in such a way that if the code isnt entered correctly, all the dash warning lights come on and stay on lol
I took the keyless ignition button out of my car and it needs a key to start it. also the key signal can be switched off by double pressing the lock key.

it also has a cat6 tracker by vodaphone cobra (cat 5 is the type of device that doesnt start without the fob in the car and or can be immobilized remotely) . I had initially gone for a CAT 5 and the fitter suggested that I go with the 6 as with a 5, apparently only the cops can initiate the immobiliser function , not sure how accurate this statement is )

lastly lots of flood lights too . got some seriously powerful PIR ones from amazon . the crooks would get a full body tan in seconds with those lights in the drive

This. The lining gets damaged so buy a job lot and keep changing them.
