Had it in a X1 loaner (all wheel drive) and it was woefully underpowered.
I’m guessing a 318d in touring guise is lighter , but not confident it’s enough.

I guess we will find out tomorrow haha

The 320i x drive isn’t out of the equation if they can fix the issues for me but we shall see. It did drive well wasn’t overly powerful compared to my 330i / M3 but it wasn’t dangerously underpowered or anything. The ZF gearbox was great and the HK audio is pretty good too

With the 320 , if you do want it after negotiating price, say these issues have really concerned you and you need a 2 year warranty for peace of mind to seal the deal ;)

HK does sound good on the F generation.

The issues were all bodywork related / there was a dead bug stuck behind the face of the black panel dash display which was right over the bottom screen text which would drive me mad, they have said there is 0 negotiation on the price too as the prices are set by head office blah blah blah

I had that with a Cooper Branch.
They never called me back after I said “give me head office’s number , I’ll deal direct and cut out the middle man.”

And low and behold the price kept dropping anyway. But I found a better car sold by a better dealership.

I’m sure they’ll negotiate a little, unless it’s only just in and / or there’s interest from others.

    Good luck with the 318d

Just to close this out, we went for the 318d in the end and hopefully collect it today. It’s not fast but isn’t dangerously slow either and the car had a lot more options than the already well spec’d x drive car and also was in much better overall condition (even before getting prepped) hopefully it will be reliable and give many happy years of motoring for us.

    Thanks for the input all
