    Evening all.

It's a good few years since I last had an M3, the last one was an E46, and now I find myself about to get another.

I bought a brand new M2 in March, and it just hasn't hit the spot for me, so I'm swapping it for a white F80 M3 tomorrow.

It stings a bit to drop £9,000 in four months, but I'm not going to stick with a car that I don't want, so off it's going.

The plan is to give it a few weeks to get used to it and then probably see if I can have the output upped a bit. I'll be reading through what others on here have done, and probably have a few questions to ask. I chatted with GAD tuning today who I may give a try if no-one suggests otherwise.

Congrats on the M3, hopefully you will like it more than the M2... well after a £9k hit you kind of have to! :muttley:

Congrats on the new pickup, just got myself in to a CP M3 MY17 and drove it up to the lakes yesterday, even though I am running in, the drive was epic compared to my old (and much loved) M135i. Was so tempted to take it over 5.5k but resisted- most of the time:)

9k hit on the trade in though!! Ouch, M2 clearly not the depreciation buster originally anticipated.

    Thanks for the welcome.

    I've some questions now.

The car has ALL of the connected features disabled, which I'm not happy about. I didn't think to ask about these, but there are none of them.

The iDrive is also an older version. The M2 looked like a set of cards moving across the screen when choosing through the top level menus, whereas the M3 is a very old-fashioned menu.

Can I upgrade the interface to match the M2 one, and will I get the nice 3D mapping etc if I do this?

Also, should a one year-old car not have the connectivity enabled?

When I collected it the windows were open which I've now realised was to hide the mild smokers smell that it has, and it's telling me that it needs a service soon, after I'd been promised that it was all done before collection. For a main dealer, I don't think they've really done me right here.

Well, further to the above, the tobacco smell that I mentioned in another thread is not gone, despite the supplying dealer having taken it back and given it a supposedly thorough clean.

I'm going to try to reject it, but suspect I'll be in for a fight.

Hi Guys, I am new to this so please excuse me when I break the rules (hopefully I wont). I am looking for some advice as I am looking to buy a e92 m3 Alpine White edition and wanted to know if it was worth the extra money.

    Spec
    2010
    40,000 miles
    all extras besides the EDC
    VERY clean
    4 owners
    24,000 pounds

Any thoughts or advice would be great. I have done all the normal checks and the run in service has been done and verified.

Don't think they're going to reject a car cause it smells of tobacco inside. You should have been able to smell it on the test drive.:D

You should have full connectivity for 3 years from new, after that they charge an annual subscription

There was no test drive, and the smell was well covered up at the time I picked it up.

The newer iDrive 5 came in around August last year in the M3/M4 I think, so if it was built before then it will be the older version. The newer one doesn't just have modified software, but also has hardware changes, so sadly I don't think it's something that can be upgraded easily...

After the above issues I eventually got the dealership to take the car back, so have to decide now what to do with the money.

I was thinking of going for a pre-reg, which would be about £54k, but see that I can get a pretty high spec, less than 15k mile 2 year-old version for 42k, so have to decide what's best.

I'll only be doing 2,500 miles a year, and know how it makes me feel when I see that selling a new car after three years has cost me £3 / mile, so am tempted with the used one, but of course the newer one would be a competition pack, with the new iDrive.

    Any thoughts?

    That didn’t take long...

I just bought a 2015 13k Miles Mineral Grey car, with full silverstone interior, HUD, park assist, HK, adaptive headlights, reversing camera and comfort access.

I pick it up on Friday.
