Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with a 996 c4s?

I am hoping to buy one soon. Not the most desirable 911 but for the rear end is stunning.

I am aware of the common IMS bearing and bore score issues, is there anything else I should be looking out for?

What are the must have extras?

Many thanks

It’s very desirable.
I have a 996 turbo and the C4S looks the best from the rear out of all Porsches that exist, honestly, it wins.
@Sidshark has had a couple, he can answer !

Morning everybody…

Rags.. thanks for the nudge…

What can I say about the 996 Carrera 4S

Well, it’s hands down the best looking Porsche (bar the Turbo). Love the angles and the really wide back end.

Desirable options are:

Porsche switchable sports exhaust
Hardback Sports seats
Manual gearbox

And the rest just make sure it’s a standard car with no modifications.

Full detailed history is a must, IMS & RMS are good to have done, but not a deal breaker.

Hope this helps.

How common are the IMS and bore score issues?

Is it a scare story similar to that of the smg box in an m3?

Not had a c4s but do have a Carrera 996

Go for it, they're brilliant cars and are that little bit more special than an M3

I've got a 997 C4S and love it, very different from an M3 but at least as enjoyable.
