My E46 m3 is my daily and I did 20k miles last year. Its now on 85k miles. I love the car probably the best all round car I have had but I am beginning to think that its wasted really on the kind of driving I do. I have a "weekend" car with my TVR.

Over last few weeks I keep thinking of selling the e46 but I have no idea what for. I want to save a bit of cash on fuel if possible and I guess I am a little wary of the potential for big bills on the e46 if I keep racking the miles up.

Im starting to like the 6 series and the 635d it says does between 30-40mpg? Is this realistic?
Looks a lovely place to be on the pics I have looked at but are they a car that people on here from experience would recommend.

I want something cheaper to run than the e46 that can still interest me

    Thanks

I bought one as a daily and had it mapped it was damn quick for a diesel. It is such a good car, that ticks so may boxes, but doors, it was to good in fact, 40 mpg, take an E46 M3 out in a straight line, every gadget, cheap tax and insurance, solid and well built, good mile eater and a great cabin, but that made it boring to own and certainly to drive. A completely drama-less car. I could never really get my head around the looks as well, they had grown on me over time, I threw a few mods to overcome the comical front, but when I stop washing a car, theirs no turning back it has to go.

cheers for that, thats a good review, its the dullness of drive that puts me off but then I have my TVR for that and when I'm driving in work sometimes and stuck in traffic I wish I had something cvomfier

Get a decent spec’d full size Range Rover.

You won’t get loads of mpg but there’s no better place to be when you’re sitting in traffic.

I have recently bought one as a family car. Have not covered much mileage so cannot comment on mpg exactly but first impressions are that it seems like a nice solid car, well made, nice enough place to be and power is okay too - suits us as an allrounder.

I'm going to keep the M3. Had it serviced last week and the valve clearances done which from the history hadn't been done in last 8 or so years and its running sweet ( touch wood)
