350z track car

    Hi chaps.

    Anyone know about 350z's?

    I have stopped doing car trackdays because i'm well basically bored of them and now just do bike trackdays.

    To that end i bought an m3 vert which clearly isn't going to cut the mustard on track.

    My wife has asked me to buy her a track car and i originally started looking at Clio 172 Cup's but came across this

    Any thoughts on them and how much i should offer the fella..i was thinking £3750, it's a Cat D so pretty much unsaleable.......

    You seriously think its worth only £3750 for a 4 owner, 76,000 mile car with all the stuff he has listed?

    - 4x Linea Corse LC818 alloy wheels (19x11 rear, 19x9.5 front)
    - Eagle F1 A2 tyres (285/35 rear, 265/35 front) in near-new condition
    - Tein Street Basis adjustable Coilovers
    - Full set of Brembo brakes with Ferodo DS2500 pads
    - Front and rear DBA T2 grooved rotor brake discs
    - K&N racing panel air filter (I used to have an air induction kit, but I have found performance to be better with a good panel filter)
    - One-of-a-kind, custom stainless cat-back quad exit exhaust
    - Custom front lip
    - D2S 6000K Xenon bulbs
    - Upgraded Bluetooth sound system
    - New clutch and dual mass flywheel at 58,000 miles (should see you way past 100k)
    - Freshly installed NGK iridium spark plugs.

    Personally, I dont think you could get a standard 350z with the same miles even Cat D for 3750 let alone with the parts he has fitted. Alot of premium parts fitted and doesnt sound like hes scrimped on it much. The days of CAT D cars being as you say 'unsaleable' are gone. Providing the cars have been repaired well and the rest of the car is good, there are still people out there who will happily buy and you are looking at it so its not exactly unsaleable?

    Personally, I would go and see the car if interested and see what its like in the flesh but unless its a dog, your chances of securing it at anywhere near £3750 are pretty slim i would say (been watching the 350 / 370 market myself for a while).

    Then again, I might be way off and the guy is total despo for cash. He / She can only say no or words to that effect.

    E92 M3 gone but not forgotten
    I was one of the first people in the UK to take delivery of a new 350Z when they first came out in 2003. To say it got attention was an understatement. Every time I stopped for fuel people used to approach me to ask what it was. Most people thought it was a Porsche :confused:.

    I’ve owned two 350Z’s over the years and I absolutely love them. My only gripe with them is that they are heavy for a two seater coupe, over 1500kg. Other than that, they are fantastic.

    My brother has a 50k mile one and its fairly standard other than some wheels an exhaust and some external lips and its a really good car actually, i would go as far to say its like an
    E46 M3 little brother, its not as good as an M but its a great car. It surprised me actually, I wasnt expecting much compared to the M3 but the handling and steering is fantastic.

    One of the best sounding mass market NA cars ive heard as well.
    They are quite heavy though and would be heavy on consumables on track, but id still say go for it.

    3750 is a bit of a joke though, id say you were golden if you got it for £4500.

    350Z's make great track car's. My mate has one and i've driven it a few times on Brands indy circuit. Really well planted.. goes well, handles well and stops well (Brembos). He has done a few little mods like better brake pads / fluid and changed some bushes. Other than that, it is stripped out a bit and has bucket seats. If it was mine, i'd add some coilovers and just continue to enjoy it!

    I'd get an S2000 for her. Will be better as a track car and roof down is a bonus but they seem to be pricey now days...

    Forgive my ignorance, but I didn't think you could have a vert for a trackcar, well not without the hassle & cost of fitting a rollcage etc.

    Loads of people track S2000/MX5 with no cage.

    I got bored of trackdays now race a citroen c1 in the c1 challenge. Never has no grip and no power been so much fun. Last weekend at snetterton we raced a grid of 53 cars for 4 hrs. I can recommend to anyone.

    I looked at this, now this is something i would love to do.

    Would love to come and take a look at some point and get some tips. What license do i need to compete?

    I suppose problem is i would have to tow it to circuit so i'd have to buy a vehicle that could do this.

    The cars have to be road legal some competitors have been known to drive. Our next race is 24hr at Rockingham last race there was 24hrs 49 cars started and finished.

    PM me we have spaces to race, you need a national B AND AN ARDS test plus club membership.
