Does anyone have one of these? I'm thinking of buying and would welcome any comments on what to look for etc?

    Thanks.

great cars but get one with a warranty due to turbo failures. Have a quick read on other forums.

I believe the tax band is different too, 08+ being LCI facelift model and cheaper tax.

N54 engine apparently is more tunable and N55 is more refined.

    I've got a e92 LCI 335i.
Cheaper tax on the coupe and saloon is from a 57 plate onwards. The e92 had a facelift in 2010 whereas the saloon had the facelift a bit earlier.

N55 is more reliable but less tuneable.
Biggest issues with the n54 are the turbo wastegates, the HPFP and the injectors. But I should expect most of the problems to be sorted by now as most were repaired under BMW recalls.

Water Pumps have been known to go on them, E90post is the place to go for Information.

I have a LCI E91 Touring 335i. Fully loaded with pro-nav, electric heated leather, upgraded HiFi soundsystem, folding mirrors etc. Took me MONTHS to find! The LCI models have the much better nav and hard drive system on board as well as being in the lower tax bracket thanks to some slight emission tweaks to get it just insdie the lower bracket! Very grateful for this as it's £280 instead of £500.

Mine is an N54, but one of the last before the N55 came in in 2010. By this point most of the components that failed on earlier models had been updated (injectors, HPFP etc). The later the better is my advice.

I am on 58k and no wastegate rattle etc, but I am having a decoke soon as the direct injections engine need this periodically. This costs £280 for TWG Automotive in Camberley and smoothens out the slightly lumpy idle caused by coked up engines - you will find most 335is suffer with a slightly lumpy idle.

They are good cars, but turbos are known to go on higher mileage examples, so consider a warranty - if you add a warranty before 60k miles, you can get a BMW Direct warranty for less than £30 a month.

Do not touch a tuned/remapped one - or be prepared warranty implications and shorter turbo life.

Earlier LCIs with the CIC idrive and lower tax started from mid 2009. You wont get an LCI on a 2008.

I'm bit stuck as where to go next though as I need a tourer, so may end up keeping it and hopefully bonding with it more. I'll decide over summer.
