What a crazy launch colour. I do love a green car though. Gold wheels?

Can't remember ever being so unenthused about a new M3/4 launch. I don't actually mind the designs I've seen thus far. In fact I quite like it. But the inevitable silly price hike over the current gen and everything being charged as an extra coupled with no doubt 1,000 versions and editions over the next 24 months just makes me think "meh".

This is where experience comes in Jon, weve seen it all before, and its quite a good thing, as we dont need to all go rushing out, and sell everything we own, because weve been there and got the tee shirt :D

Dont tell Colin this Henry, but ive been secretly scouring the M4 CS adds, looking for that little something that could do the trick for me for a while, but i havent come across it yet. Newest doesnt always mean best, he says raiding his piggy bank for deposit on new 500bhp 4wd M3/4 :D :lolwsign:

Simon I can see why you attracted - I adore my CS a year in - really did not think I would and it is such a special car and best comparison is my 997 GT2

    This is me 100%

I remember some 7 years ago when we first saw the F80 I was like wooooooow, I had an M135i at the time and I couldn’t wait to get one. It was stunning.
This time round I just don’t feel it, not only due to the looks, I just feel like it’s not worth the deposit and outlay for a minimal difference.

Simon, this is something I’ve been telling you for a little while. There’s just something about them, that I think you will love. Even if it’s short term until you see what the M5CS is like.

    Get one with CCB!!

This is called experience, and being sensible, im coming up 55 now, and im just coming around to this. If i could have felt like this at your age, you young pup, i would be lighting my fire with £50 notes by now. Instead i threw £50 notes out of the windows of expensive cars, that i cant even remember now :D :muttley:

Looks aside, I don’t think it will be a minimal difference. The improved engine and new 4 wheel drive system will crush the old car in terms of performance I think.

If they could just carry the best bits of the old cars design across it would be amazing!

4wd system is what would stop me looking forward to one, it’ll be devastatingly fast, no doubt, but after years of Evos, a45, it’s such a joy to be in a red car again

It'll be interesting to see how that pans out in terms of residuals. You'd think the AWD will be more popular (much like DCT vs manual has been on the E92 and F82) but I've a feeling there could be an element of F80ness about the RWD in that they hold price better in the longer term.

Yeah, it will be the usual pattern. 99% order white/black/blue/grey with all the bells and whistles.

In ten years because there are only 50 manual rwd cars in piss yellow and snot green everyone wants them!:D

I think with BMWs pricing strategy ‘holding price better’ isn’t something that can be uttered in the same sentence as M3/4.
All varieties will plummet as they have before.
You only need to look at something genuinely a bit special and limited in supply such as the CS, if they can’t fight the inevitable curse of BMW depreciation then a standard model has no chance.
All flavours will most likely be great to drive and own, just don’t kid yourself that it’ll cost a fortune come time to move on.
