I bet it looks like a mini M8, certainly from the rear, with a bit more room in the back like the current M4, and the basking shark front grilles. I think it will be a great car

I really like the look of it . In those videos it does look extremely quick as a few of you say , plus I can vouch for the S58 and M Xdrive as incredible will take the M3/4 to the next level , so at least We’ve something to look forward too in these crazy times .

Nobody can confirm but bimmerpost guy Scott26 has confirmed that Germany will be getting both gearboxes. So it’s a Europe thing too. I know the take up rate was pretty low on the F8x but I feel that this gen could see a slight increase in manual sales, it also seems popular on the M2?

Well , he seems to get most things correct , I agree there are very few manual F8x’s , well I’ve seen very few but More M2’s as you say . Think a manual in a M2 suits it as it’s a uncomplicated car . The S58 would suit a manual for sure as it feels very NA , plus the powerband is right to 7300 and it entices you to use it . How’s the CS bud ?

I read a post a few weeks back someone was saying that the Manual option isn’t currently available on the outgoing M4 either which seems wierd and a bit worrying..

The CS is mega mate, even though it’s not been driven for 4 weeks and not likely to be for the next 2 at least. It’s sitting in the garage all perfect. Just best not to think how much I’m paying while it gets ZERO use :(

Glad you still love the CS , I wouldn’t worry about the money it’s such a lovely car to look at , I used to get as much pleasure looking at mine as driving it ! Think we’ve all had a wake up call lately with covid , best to enjoy life as the carpet can be snatched from under our feet at anytime !! :)

I’m itching to get a weekend in one of these to see what all the fuss is about the X3M fans boys have brainwashed me to at least give it a very good look, could this finally be my first AWD, that will depend on what merc and others do next?
I’m in no rush and if deals were same as X3M were for a while I would certainly be tempted if it a great drive and sound far better than Current gen, but it will have to be at the top of irs game to temp me, and a smaller nimble M5 in coupe form I just think this may well convert some very diehard RWD nutters:muttley: and then again maybe not all on cutters :roflmao:

Do you live around West Country Derek ?? If you do I will happily take you out in mine with a simple stage one then add the M xdrive that is very rear biased you’ll be blown away I’m sure . I’m excited to drive this set up in a lighter car believe me because it’s insane in my SUV .

    Disagree.
I was always under the impression M2C and M4 are similar weights, I've even seen claims that an M4 is lighter than the M2!! (I remember seeing a thread where someone got their M4 with fuel weighed on a weigh bridge and it was less than someone doing the same with an M2. Obviously that assumes they're telling the truth, options etc.

The thing I find interesting is the wheelbase (distance between axles) and track (distance between wheels on the same axle) the M4 is actually a lot more similar to M3s of previous generations including the E46.
For entertainment's sake here are the ratios (wheelbase divided by track for front and rear)
    ||||||| Front | Rear
    E46 | 1:1.85 | 1:1.83
    F80 | 1:1.78 | 1:1.75
    F87 | 1:1.7 | 1:1.68

Don't think I'm out to attack the M2 at all, I really like them. But to say it's more like an M3 than an actual M3 (or 4) is absurd.
PS don't forget about the 1 series interior you get on the M2s :muttley:

M4 I agree. It's definitely more of a proper M3 than the F-series taxi though as it is has 2 doors :p

Sadly I can really see myself wanting one of these.

I say sadly because my plan was to keep mine for at least a few years after I’ve finished paying for it!
