F**k me I remember that... was on the A1 in my neck of the woods, IIRC they chose that stretch as it had just been widened to 4 lanes past Peteborough...

Which reminds me... was the late 90's; so 20+years ago.

So this Audi driver is really breaking new ground. :chair:

Having followed the thread and enjoyed the debate & the baiting its obvious that this bell end is an inadequate narcissistic C***!

Whether you want to admit it or not you wouldn't be here if you weren't interested in going fast. Nothing wrong with that.

Speed when safe by all means but filming it thereby driving one handed.....C***!

    Never heard of a dashcam.....C***!

Publishing the event online even bigger C***!:suicide:

    More wood on the fire.............Enjoy.

Correct, it’s a common misconception that the autobahn has no speed limit. As stated in the Straßenverkehrsordnung, you need to drive to the conditions (weather, temp, traffic, visibility etc), your skill level and the capabilities of your vehicle.

If you have an accident whilst well beyond the richtgeschwindigkeit of 130km/h you are at risk of being automatically deemed to have not been driving to the conditions and would be in a world of legal pain.

Of course if you have an accident at 320km/h it will be your estate that has legal issues.

I must say I have never driven on a UK freeway where you could go much more than 70mph and keep a 3 second gap anyway. It’s a tiny island with 65mm people!

Depends what time of day or night your using them though ;)

As said if you de-restrict them, the traffic flow will dictate the speed you can do anyway.

Fortunately not all 65m people drive.
The number of people that legally can drive is closer to 33m and I imagine about 33-50% of them have no facility to drive, ie. no car, emigrated or they simply choose not to.

Of the remainder... you obviously know that they’re not all on the road at the same time.

I’ll go out on a limb to hazard a guess that there are roads in the UK that don’t see traffic for days at a time.

Maybe I’m stupid but I have no reason to disbelieve that thread. One million is not much money if you’re looking in central London and certainly wouldn’t buy a house that I’d want to live in. Realistically it’s probably the going rate for a half decent flat which is in walking (or zip line) distance from the city.

It's interesting to read through this, with so many differing views & opinions. A lot of us will have done Vmax (or close to) runs at one time or another, whether on a public road or not, and whether we care to admit it, or not. Over the years I know I've had my fair share of high speed runs (150mph+), both whilst using lawful exemptions and not. I'm no angel!
In this particular scenario, we're talking about a sustained run, involving an indicated 201mph. On a UK motorway.
Now, our motorways & their maintenance, are not up to derestricted autobahn standards. How often do you see debris on our motorways these days? There's loads. Easy to dodge at sub 100mph. Virtually impossible at 200mph.
Driver awareness has also been mentioned. Quite rightly imo, as the majority of UK drivers are pretty clueless on motorways to be fair. Completely different again to those on the continent who use the derestricted autobahn sections.
At the speed seen on this video, the car is travelling at 90 metres per second. 5 seconds & it's done the best part of half a KM. And that's the biggest issue when you introduce bends & other traffic, including LGV's, that mat take a couple of seconds or more to change lanes in front of you. Even if they look beforehand, in reality you're unlikely to be seen.
It's hard to get one's head around, but if a car in front, travelling at let's say a reasonable 90mph, decides to pull out, you still have an impact speed of 110mph. Make no mistake, the impact is inevitable, as there simply is no reaction time to be had. You're *ucked, simples. Silly figures. And given those speeds, it would be utter carnage for anyone else in the vicinity. Period. There's no such thing as a "minor" incident of any kind at that speed. It doesn't really matter if the numpty in front caused it, the results are the same. Everyone's dead.
I think what's also (very) important to consider here, is looking at the drivers attitude. There's one intention here. To achieve in excess of 200mph & film it in order to prove it. And that's his focus. Not half a mile to a mile down the road looking for the numpty that may pull out on you, or that tow-strap that's lying in the carriageway, near the large piece of shredded LGV tyre..... I'm sure you get my point.
Given the right conditions & circumstances (taking everything into account including the vehicle being driven), I'm sure there are many situations where driving at 200mph wouldn't be "dangerous" by definition. I personally don't believe this is one of those occasions.
He's been lucky on this occasion. And luck is really all it is, all things considered.
It's all just "food for thought". I wouldn't risk my or others lives (or my freedom for that matter) doing this for the sake of proving a point on video, but that's just me...

If he’s got a tracker he’s fooked if the police identify the car . I had an issue with my tracker recently like I was getting at least 20 phone alerts and calls a day from the company asking me where my car was yet it was in the garage . I got talking to a tech guy there and The information they hold at HQ is frightening, where you’ve been and what speed etc !! Certainly opened my eyes .

I watched some police documentary last year where the suspect drove his Evoque to a cottage/farm to kill someone.

police got in touch JLR and they confirmed the where the car had been the night of the murder.

I’m sure it was just some OEM built in tracker working off the sat-nav.

    Edit this was it

It’s quite alarming isn’t it !! I had no idea Until techie told me , Apparently my tracker sends 16 different signals continuously and monitors practically bloody everything and is logged ! Didn’t even want it but couldn’t get insurance without it !

In still wondering why he would post it on social media? Maybe to gain some form of celebrity status? Then again if he was to gets caught ( which he wont) it's a very stupid thing to do! Impressive yes I'll admit that. Dangerous and very idiotic yea!
