    Hi Matt,

Could you send me some details please? Remember seeing them at a meet but wanted to get some more detail. Have you ever been 'caught' with them by the track staff?

    Thanks.

    Hi Pete,
PM me your email address and I'll send you the photos etc.
Ive always installed the db killers without the track staff seeing, but I don't think they are actually bothered.
They're just ticking boxes for the local authorities. The only thing they are bothered about is you being under the limit. How you manage that doesn't seem to bother them.

    Hi Matt

I also have a 2 pipe mod with primary decats. I’ve recorded a static test revving to 6k rpm and scored 107db!
Not sure what driveby will be but I’m hoping your home made solution will do the the trick for me. As I’m booked into to go Donington in two weeks during a evening run.
Could you pls PM me how you did your dB killer in each pipe.

    Many thanks

I've got a 2.5 mod + decat and got a circa 6db reduction by sticking a stock box back on. I went this route because I didn't want to use an external baffle out on the track and was worried about drive by at some places.

Had some flanges welded behind the boxes to make change over and transporting easier.

    Nicely designed mate. Well done.
I may have to buy a stock catback to get around mine though

I test at 98-99db (Brands and Snett) with primary decat and the stock box fitted so will go close to that Donnie limit.

When I researched it I was led to believe that an external baffle /dB killer would not be as effective as the proper silencer offered through the stock box but don't know if this is actually true.

Merlin motorsports do the best dB killers but you will have to decide if you are going to run them on two or four pipes. If four then their external diameter won't let you fit them side by side so you would have to consider an extended, angled exhaust piece. This obviously all stacks up so you need to consider the cost and ease of this against the cost and ease of just sticking a stock box on.

FYI I know someone who used these killers to good effect but then he wasn't decatted just 2.0 mod.

    Thanks for this mate.
    Very helpful
I guess buying a stock box will work out around the same or cheaper as doing this set up.
Will probably test the home made option offered by Mattiitbo and see what difference that makes first.
    Really appreciate all the help
