Anybody owned an 08 onwards fireblade? Im looking for another bike and quite like the look of these for the money.
Mate has one, amazing things. If your over 30, want to ride for over 40 min or have back issues I'd consider a sports tourer. They are faster on the road but can't hold a candle to a blade on the track. Eg Busa or ZZR1400 Honda... Close to perfection on quality and style. 99% as fast as the exotics. Great resale value. Probably the best reliability going. I've seen too many expensive Italian bikes broken down in the wet to go there myself.
Good advice mate cheers. I’m a couple of years over 30 but not many lol. I just ride for fun no track stuff yet. Even if I could afford something newer and exotic I probably wouldn’t buy one. I want a 1000 sport bike budget of around 5k
I’m tall so that always something I have to think about but I’ve seen plenty of tall people on blades so it should be ok
I owned a 2010 Fireblade, I believe it was the RR-a model. There were no electronics on it like ABS and TC. The bikes are fantastic and for a sports bike it’s the comfiest one I’d been on. From memory the 08/09 versions suffered with burning oil and tend to be avoided.
Early ABS models had problems where the brakes will actually fail and have caused crashes from memory. I remember being shown a video where a guy on track was heading fast to a corner and pulled the front lever and nothing happened If you’re tall the 09-14 R1’s are roomy as are GSX-R of the period.
I’ll look into that issue. I think a few bikes with early abs had that problem on track, if you were riding fast enough the abs would cut in and release the brakes. I’ve definitely seen people doing bike reviews complain about it especially when you can’t disable it for track. Probably won’t affect me either way I’m not that fast lol
I went ZX10R 08 5 years ago and absolutely love it. I'm a bit biased on the ZX's though as I had a ZX636 for 9 years prior to that.
